Best served at light roasts. One can roast out the sweet floral and fruit pretty quickly so be a little careful not to get this one too dark. Hard to get a bad roast on these beans but will be far less distinctive at fuller roast levels. Light roasts are delicate, sweet and balanced. Hints of citric/floral and fruit balance nicely with a fuller bodied dark tone, on the malty side with tea (spice) like accents in the aftertaste. Unlike many light roast coffees, the acidity and tones are gentle and balanced. Medium roasts promote the tea like spice but cut out the sweet floral pretty quicky. Turns the cup low acidity with mostly darker toned complexity.

Best served light to medium roasted. Light roasts are very sweet and will showcase the fruity, floral and citric. Tastes will be mostly brighter acidic tones, a more potent cup. Clean & exotic but not much for darker toned contrast, it will be the preferred roast level for higher acidity fans. Although one has orange on the mind with the name, the fruitiness and acidity will produce a more orange like sparkle versus more traditional red fruits that many naturals get. Medium roasts are equally as nice and a bit tamer, generally where we would recommend roasting this one. Develops a richer mouthfeel and fuller body with some lovely darker toned balance. Still plenty of citric and fruit to keep the cup jazzy, but shouldn’t be too sour or frontloaded for most tongues.

A very floral cup of coffee! Light to medium roasts are where it shines. Light roasts themselves are pretty lemony floral and bright, a little heavier body and balance with a more herbal/malty undertone. Tasty and lets you see the more floral geisha attributes nicely but a bit sharp and dry in the finish, a front loaded cup most would call it. Medium roasts develop the tastes better but mute some of those crazy floral tones, tastes more like a higher acidity Guatemalan. Good malty-ness with crisp overly floral tones. Much cleaner cup at a medium roast. Dark roasts worked well but were hard to tell anything Geisha like about the cup. Similar to other high end Guat offerings, stronger with malty and smoky compliments.

Crisp clean acidity at the lighter roasts with very little risk of underdeveloped tones. Even though this cup is clean enough to roast light; most will want to get close to 2nd crack for this cup. Lighter roasts get a cool semi-floral sweet tone upfront balanced with a little grassy caramel and slight hint of chocolate. As one progresses towards the darker roasts it gets much fuller bodied and chocolaty (more bakers chocolate than milk) with just a little hint of floral acidity at the full city roast. Into 2nd crack its a rough and tumble cup with added smoky tones.

A great medium to dark roast coffee. Robust and strong with an exotic more island premium sweet edge. Lighter roasts get a bit nutty with a little grassy caramel and slight hint of herbal spice, tasty but does not bring forth those awesome stronger chocolate notes that Haitian coffee is known for. As one progresses towards the medium roasts it develops a lot of sweet chocolaty, malty and smoky tones with just a little hint of floral acidity, a wonderful everyday drinker. Darker roasts touching 2nd crack have a surprisingly sweet edge to it and greatly accentuates the smoky/malty tones. Reminiscent of a nice Nicaragua coffee with the exception of the almost sugary sweetness upfront and jazzed up aromatics.

A small hint of islandy acidity at the light to medium roast points, which is what really separates this lot from many others we have had. Nutty, chocolaty with some small hints of soft fruit and floral tones at the lighter roast points. Turns pretty bold and bakers chocolaty into the dark roasts. A great gentle cup of coffee.

Heavier bodied and lower acidity, semi-sweet hints of floral and caramel, balanced with a nice strong earthier chocolate note. Darker roasting makes for a pretty bold cup with some added smoky factors.

A very clean and rich cup of coffee. We thought best at a nice medium roast. A little hint of acidity upfront to keep it a little crisper and sweeter. Although a bit thinner bodied than the other Haitian offerings and not quite as potent, it’s just as tasty. A sweet nutty/chocolaty base tone; provides a little hint of caramel if lucky on the roast. Lighter roasts pop a bit more floral with a hint of soft fruit but can add a little herbal spice to the cup. Much cleaner processing this season which is a perk, a point higher rated, but a little less fruity/wild of a cup. Hints of a red fruit at lighter roasts, especially as the cup cools. A bit fuller bodied and on the sweeter side, balanced with the bakers chocolate like earthiness (a good contrast) found in the other Haitian coffees. Lighter roasts will let the exotic profile shine but be a bit punchy with floral and citric tones, risks a grassy tones if you get too close to first crack. Medium roasts were our favorite, better balance with a pronounced chocolaty darker tone along with the more exotic floral and fruit. Darker roasts touching 2nd crack are far less fruity and hold more true to the Haitian profile, a little floral acidity still comes through the cup but strong and smoky with almost no hint of being a slow dry honey processed.

Awesome cup this season, good from light to dark. Darker roasts which are more traditional for Haitian coffee, come off robust and strong with a floral islandy sweet edge and a smoky aftertaste. Bigger bodied and on the chocolaty spicy side of things. Being so clean this cup is great at light to medium roasts as well; hints of lemony floral, crisp, sweet with a more nutty/caramel tone. A little acidity but not enough to push folks away. A lovely daily drinking cup.
