Light to dark this will make a tasty cup. Although very identifiable as a Kenya, this is not an overly acidic coffee. Lighter roasts do have some lemony goodness but its crisp and defined, not mouth puckering. Fuller bodied and chocolaty with very noticeable spice notes, good balance of light and dark tones even at lighter roast points. Sweet edged with some hints of a fruity factor between the lemony floral front end and chocolaty spice undertones. Medium roasts are smooth and accentuate the chocolaty factor, muting up most of the acidity, a very easy to drink cup. A great cup from light to dark, but we think best at a solid medium roast. Light roasts will be pretty acidic, medium roasts smooth and balanced, darker roasts potent but bittersweet. This is an excellent classically bright Kenyan; super clean, sweet with good body. One can find all sorts of acidic like notes in this cup ranging from soft fruit to very floral citrus. All the wonderful lighter tones balance with a nice and rich chocolaty undertone, pretty potent, fades into some classic African spice on the tongue (tea like semi-vegetal). Turns pretty dark/bakers chocolate like into the darker roasts. Very fun cup with awesome flavor depth.

This is a top cupping lot from the Gatomboya coffee factory in Nyeri. Very tasty with some exotic acidic fruit notes upfront (grape/lemon/orange) and a strong classic and super clean chocolate spice undertone.
This cup is sourced from family-owned farms organized around the Gatomboya Factory (wet mill) in Nyeri County, Kenya. The Barichu Farmers Co-operative Society Limited manages the Gatomboya Factory, which processes coffee from 600 members who generally cultivate approximately 250 coffee trees on half-acre plots.

A great cup! Super clean in its cup characters. Very bright and somewhat fruity at the lighter roasts; citrus, floral and red fruit balanced with just hint of a herbal chocolaty factor. Medium roasts get much nicer balance but build a big bodied darker tone pretty quickly, covers up most of the fruity factor but the more citrus floral cuts right through it, almost a grapefruit tone a the right roast. Very dependent on roast a super fun one to play around with. Hard to make low acidity so make sure you like at least a medium acidity cup if you buy this guy. Light roasts will be very lemony citrus and floral balanced with just a little hint of a chocolate tone (green tea spice accent) with great aromatics that add some soft fruit tones. Medium roasts get a little more balanced but still strong on the floral front end, introduces a little soft fruit note not just in the aromatics. Dark roasts mute up a lot of acidity but you will still notice some, greatly strengthens the chocolate tea spice note and becomes much more bittersweet.

This cup is very clean for a Kenya and although containing some of the herbal spice, it is pretty mild compared to other Kenyans; a little sweeter and more delicate than most. One will still see its Kenyan roots upon first sip, one cannot miss it but this is also a Kenyan anyone can drink without being overwhelmed. Lighter roasts are only for higher acidity fans, front loaded with citrus and floral with just a little hint of a dark tone; clean enough to drink here but a little over the top for some. This is one heck of a top lot. Potent stuff and screams Kenya. Higher acidity gives all sorts of overly floral and soft fruit tones that linger into the aftertaste. Although higher acidity not insanely citrus like, very buzzy acidity. Very chocolaty and fuller bodied with tea like spice notes and a little of that classic Kenyan herbal factor. Somewhere in the balance one gets a hints of fruitiness and caramel before it hits you with that strong chocolaty undertone.

A very clean, exotic and balanced cup of coffee. This cup hit the classic Kenyan cup profile on the head without being too overwhelming like some (very balanced in its tones). Not quite sizzling but a very noticeable lemony floral tone upfront at the light to medium roast points balanced with some stronger but very clean chocolate tones. A hint of spice and soft fruit can be found in the aftertaste. Light roasts will swing the balance towards the floral citric side, darker roasts more towards the jazzy baker’s chocolate aspect. Holds up into 2nd crack for you dark roast fans. Low acidity and strong bittersweet chocolate tones with the traditional Kenyan spice note that leaves a very smoky tone on the pallet.
