Most would consider this a medium to dark roast coffee, but does have some jazz at lighter roast points. Darker toned, semi-sweet coffee with lower acidity and a fuller body. Filled with rich chocolate/nutty/herbal/spice like tones. Great depth of flavor without all that citric and fruity that often comes with higher rated cups these days.Lighter roasting promotes the more nutty/herbal, darker roasting chocolate & spice. Lighter roasting took 4-5 days after roasting to get tasty, medium to dark roasts were tasty from day 1.

A very fresh and tasty Brazil! Lighter roasts show lemon, floral & soft fruit contrasted by a nuttier (almond like) undertone, a sweet edged cup. The two combine for a hints of caramel, quite tasty for you light roast fans. Medium roasts are richer, more of a developed chocolaty tone and decently less nutty; mutes up the soury floral edge, retains a little hint of soft fruit as the cup cools. Fairly neutral tasting and very chuggable. Darker promotes a thicker body and introduces a slightly bitter contrast that works very well for espresso.Price:Price: Original price was: $6.99.$5.99Current price is: $5.99.$6.99/lb$5.99/lb -

Great from light to dark. Lighter roasts will show some floral acidity and soft fruit tones comingling with a little nutty/caramel like darker note. Crisp, clean, sweet and balanced. Medium roasts mute up most of the floral attributes, gains a little body and thicker mouthfeel, just a pinch of a sweet fruity upfront quickly dominated by nutty and chocolate like tones. Darker roasts get a bit smoky and move the soft fruit tone to the aftertaste, mostly noticeable as the cup cools, a stronger nutty/chocolatey/smoky profile.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.29.$6.99Current price is: $6.99.$8.29/lb$6.99/lb -

This is one unique coffee! We have carried only a few of these Fruit Fermentations coffees in the past, some have loved them, some have not, but a very fun and definitely unique offering for home roasters. Part high quality Colombian coffee, part melon science experiment. Flavored enough by the crazy processing that the crowd will be split on this one but we found much joy drinking it. Be ready for coffee that tastes and smells like varying levels of melon depending on the roast level.
If you love melon, this coffee will be pretty awesome. Two of our tasters love melon tastes and picked this one as the favorite. The melon tones stick right out and balance nicely with the Colombian coffee profile. Lighter roasts were interesting, some may want to try it here, the cup is bright and clean but be warned, the aromatics and flavor of the melon is very strong, it balances with a very sweet, nutty, buttery textured tone. Pretty much a guarantee one will have not tasted flavors like this in coffee before, but will be a limited crew that likes the light roast point best. We did like lighter roasts better than the pineapple offering, but all in all the cup lacked balance with some normal coffee tones. Medium roasts push the tastes much higher in our book, a little hint of citric acidity, some classic Colombian nuttiness, good body with a clear sweet melon tones, a little stronger in the aromatics but also clear in the tastes. Still unique but links more to traditional coffee tastes. Darker roasts close to second crack present nicely, but into second crack more than a pop or two did pick up a little bitter contrast.

Recommendation of a nice medium roast to present this best. If you love sweet citrus and coconut, this coffee will be pretty awesome. Two of our tasters picked this one as the favorite. The aromatics pop the coconut right out, and the lemon tones balance nicely with the Colombian coffee profile. Lighter roasts were interesting, some may want to try it here, the cup is bright and clean but be warned, the aromatics and flavor is very strong, it balances with a very sweet, nutty, buttery textured tone. A very fruit forward and floral exotic Colombian. All sorts of cool unique flavors can be found in this cup from the slow dry natural processing and boutique fermentation. The brighter tones tend to range from a lemon citric component at the lighter roasts to strong stone fruit in the medium roast range. The acidity is pretty high at the lighter roasts but mellows greatly at a strong medium to dark roast. The balance of the cup comes from an almost cola-like tone that turns a bit nuttier into the darker roasts. Medium bodied, super clean with some far from traditional Colombian tones.

Intro Special – Regular Price $8.99/Lb
A good cup from light to dark but to showcase what makes these beans special, light to medium roasts will be the way to go. Light roast points are very jazzy with stronger citric/floral acidity mixing with a little soft fruit tone, pulling some balance with a sweet edged nuttiness. With the red fruit and more citric components, it makes us think pink lemonade upfront, but some were more down the tart raspberry alley. Medium roasts get fuller bodied and smoother, good nutty/chocolate like undertones with less crisp citric/floral acidity. Darker roasts will kill most of the brightness but will retain a little hint of fruit as the cup cools. Much more chocolaty and robust at the darker roast points, potent brew, can have a little stout like bitter aftertaste but will hit the tongue on the sweeter side.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.99.$7.99Current price is: $7.99.$8.99/lb$7.99/lb -

A very fresh crisp and clean Colombian arrival. Good from light to dark but a nice solid medium roast was what won us over on this lot. Stronger more spicy cup profile. Lighter roasts have very crisp and clean acidity, a sweet lemony floral, with hints of a black tea like spice, some dry nuttier tones in the aftertaste. Just a little development past first crack is a good sweet spot for lighter roasting. Medium roasts are richer with less lemony floral, more traditional nutty/chocolate like tones and some lingering spice in the aftertaste. Darker roasts are full of bakers chocolate notes, more semi-sweet smoky with nutty accents. The spice still lingers on the tongue but the cup is dominated by the roasty and smoky tones.

The aroma of this coffee is very nice; sweet with with a little spice & floral notes. Best at a medium to borderline dark roast. Sweet upfront with a hint of crispness balanced with a stronger toasted walnut/chocolaty undertone. A little hint of acidity at the medium roast point really creates a nicely balanced cup with a broad flavor profile. Touching 2nd crack builds some body and will add some smoky and roasty notes that can compliment the classic Colombian profile.

A lovely, crisp, and clean, not overly fruity natural processed. We thought it best right around the medium roast ballpark but will make fans lighter or darker depending on your personal taste preference. Lighter roasting is a bit higher acidity, lemony and floral with some grape skin like fruitiness coming through. A bit more herbal spice right at first crack, needs a longer setup time to shine but will provide delicate chocolaty notes with much wilder acidity and fruity tones. Medium roasts were tasty without the wait! Balanced, tasty, and clean after 24 hours. A pronounced chocolaty factor, medium bodied, hints of crisp acidity backed with a little soft fruit tone and spice. Wonderfully smooth and delicate for a Congo coffee. Dark roasts were tasty right off the bat as well, roasty and stronger but with a sweeter then average edge. The smokiness does compliment the strong chocolaty undertones.Price:Price: Original price was: $7.49.$6.49Current price is: $6.49.$7.49/lb$6.49/lb -

Great floral and soft fruit tones upfront with a bit of brightness balanced with a tea spiced chocolaty factor, not too overwhelming or potent like some Africans. Best from the lighter side of a medium roast to as dark as you want to go. A bit cleaner tasting but slightly less fruity than previous seasons. Lighter roasting presents some nice honey processed features: citric, floral, soft fruit with an almost oak/peat like finish, sweet & complex but does risk some underdeveloped tones if you nail it a little too light. Medium roasts were our favorite, still balanced and complex but will develop the traditional chocolate and smoky tones for which Dominican coffees are known for – to balance out those more exotic fruity and citric tones. Darker roasts are a little more complex than on the washed processed version, but not as smooth and rich.

A bit of lemony floral acidity upfront quickly fading into nice red fruit notes and balancing with a smooth chocolate undertone that lingers in the aftertaste. Light roasts will promote much more citrus acidity but also leave the most red fruit tones in the cup. A longer setup helps with the lighter roasts for the citric tones will fade over time allowing more of the fruitiness and darker tones of the cup to shine. Medium roasts really bring forth the cleaner chocolaty tones in the cup reducing the fruit and citric tones to just a hint. Darker roasts burn out the fruit and acidity leaving a strong slightly edgy bakers chocolate cup with smoke smokier highlights.

One can tell its natural processed roots with its sweetness and thickness and its Ethiopian roots with highlights of spice & fruity/floral notes throughout the roast range. Best served in the light to medium roast range for drip brew for it will show its best balance and promote a hint of fruity/floral. Turns into a chocolate bomb at the darker roasts, more on the dark chocolate side, which would work wonderfully for espresso or cold brew. Very dependent on roast, one can accentuate or hide the attributes of this cup depending on roast level. Washed Ethiopians are always way fun to play around with. A great super fresh and clean micro lot from our friends at Finca De Dios. Awesome prep, one can tell a lot of care went into these beans. A great medium to as dark as you want to go bean type. Light roasts produce a lot of floral brightness and light fruit notes (almost reminiscent of a nice Costa) mixing with a subtle yet very sweet malty chocolaty note but can be a little more challenging to roast to a light roast – a great morning brew – darker roasts will produce more body similar to the Huehues – very clean non-roasty dark-roast beans – you get a lot of the sweet malty tones and very smooth even into 2nd crack – a very stand up bean at almost any roast level.

Medium roasting really pulls together a tasty treat but you can take it lighter or darker depending on personal taste preference.
Hints of floral mixing with smooth nutty & malty features. Will show some winy citric and fruit acidity in the light to medium roast spectrum but all in all a medium to low acidity brew with a medium body.
Smooth, clean and sweet edged, a cup we are more than willing to drink all day. Guatemalans almost always hold dark roasts nicely for adding a little sweet malty note to the smoky and roasty tones is a tasty mix.

A lovely coffee. Low acidity, medium body with rich and robust darker tones ringing throughout the cup. Medium to dark roasts are where these beans shine. Lighter roasting without much acidity will leave the cup a bit nutty and lacking but clean. Starting at about a medium roast the cup builds a wonderful chocolate note with some smoky and malty overtones. A bit on the sweeter smoother side, a tasty treat. Darker roasts, close to touching 2nd crack and where the much more robust tones pop out of the cup, reminiscent of a nice Haitian cigar.

Awesome cup this season, good from light to dark. Darker roasts which are more traditional for Haitian coffee, come off robust and strong with a floral islandy sweet edge and a smoky aftertaste. Bigger bodied and on the chocolaty spicy side of things. Being so clean this cup is great at light to medium roasts as well; hints of lemony floral, crisp, sweet with a more nutty/caramel tone. A little acidity but not enough to push folks away. A lovely daily drinking cup.Price:Price: Original price was: $9.99.$8.99Current price is: $8.99.$9.99/lb$8.99/lb -

A very nice example of a fruit forward natural. Clean enough cup for lighter roasts, where the tastes tend to shine. Stronger citric acidity, a medium body, plenty of red fruit notes and hints of a nutty/chocolaty undertone. Medium roasts will mellow the acidity and accentuate the chocolaty factor, less extreme and easier to drink but not as punchy of a cup. A bit easier cup to achieve roasting wise. Darker roasts are still very interesting with the two-tones of roast level. One still gets hints of acidity (very small) and a bit of fruity factor but also a ton of bitter-sweet smoky and chocolaty notes.

A good clean cup high rated cup of Honduran coffee. Good cup from light to dark. At light roasts it will have some lemony acidity and a sweet edge, pulls some balance with a more peanut like nuttiness. Medium roasts introduce a more chocolaty than nutty tone and mute up some of the citric making it a bit smoother of a cup but also less complex, good daily drinking territory. Darker roasts taste nice but will have some roasty/smoky characteristics along with a good body. A rich and sweet cup for dark roast fans.

Indian Mysore Nuggets has been a favorite of Burman Coffee and customers for many years and this crop does not disappoint. The aroma is nutty, woody, and some slight smokiness. Many of the notes in the aroma come through in the flavor like walnuts and some smoke. There’s dark fruit, oak, licorice, and some vanilla spice, like a good dry red wine. The finish has a subdued brightness to it with just hints of lemon zest at lighter roast points. The body is medium to full depending on roast and brew. There’s a reason people keep coming back to this bean. It’s a smooth all around great stronger cup of coffee.Price:Price: Original price was: $7.99.$6.99Current price is: $6.99.$7.99/lb$6.99/lb -

A very rich, strong and smooth cup. A cousin to Sumatra or Sulawesi coffee; Blue Moon always is a bit smoother without as much peaty earthiness, or swampy fruit. A sweeter cup for an Indo with malt, chocolate with a little traditional earthy terroir of the wet-hulled Indonesians. Fuller bodied, a little hint of acidity at a medium roast, a definite go to for our strong-medium or dark roasts here at Burman Coffee. Pulls some molasses undertones as ones pushes into second crack roasts. Hints of slight smoky tone at darker roast.

Very fermenty/fruity, lower acidity cup with good body. A wild old world natural processed good from light to dark. A beautiful tasting bean this season: slightly fruitier but still balances with traditional Indonesian character. Hints of acidity with stronger fruitiness at lighter roasts, strong fruit/oak tones on a more nutty/earthy/chocolaty profile at darker roast points. No missing the wild side in this cup. Medium roasts are where one should shoot for their first roast, mutes some nutty tones and pronounces the chocolaty factor for some balance, still plenty of wild fruity natural processed tones in the cup. Dark roasts will introduce some smoky accents but retain great sweetness. Tasty from medium to dark. We preferred it a bit on the darker side. Lighter roasting is wild and decently fruit forward, sweet with a little acidity upfront; winy and brandy like with some lingering dry nutty/earthy tones, a bit of floral in the aftertaste, good but not chocolaty enough for us. Medium roasts mellow the cup a bit, turning it more chocolaty, fuller bodied and refining the fruitiness, making it a cup everyone will love, not just natural processed fans. Reminiscent of a nice Yemen Mokka but a bit more brandy like. Smooth and easy drinking. Dark roasts worked exceptionally well. Chocolaty but not overly roasty, sweet with just a pinch of fruit in the aftertaste. A bit of bolder spice compliments the more delicate features: great mouthfeel.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.49.$7.49Current price is: $7.49.$8.49/lb$7.49/lb -

A great cup from light to dark: a clean, rich and smooth cup. To see it shine and differentiate itself from normal Indonesians, keep it in the light to medium roast ballpark. Just a hint of brightness upfront, sugarcane like sweetness, good body with a chocolate like lingering aftertaste. It does have a little earthy terroir, but is almost more playing on some spice notes than traditional Indonesian “muddiness”. Darker roasts are pretty hefty cups, still overly sweet but more simple in its taste, chocolate and spice like with some complimenting roasty notes. Darker roasts would work very well for espresso or cold brew, while lighter roasts would excel for drip or pour over.Price: $8.59/lb - 7.39/lbPrice: $8.59 -

As you push into the medium roasts, it will get fuller bodied with a creamy mouthfeel cutting out the more lemony floral tones, turns the cup much more chocolaty and gives depth to the exotic spice notes. Crisp, clean and fresh, a great coffee from light to dark. A less acidic Kenya with great balance, mouthfeel and depth of flavors. At light roasts it will still have some brighter citrus qualities but will not pucker ones mouth. Kenyan coffees in general can be pretty strong. It has hints of chocolate, fruit & herbal spice along with the citrus and floral. Medium roasts bring the best balance to the cup accentuating the chocolaty tones and reducing the brighter notes just a hint. Darker roasts make that classic Kenya herbal tone pop right out and is more down the potent bakers chocolate alley. Very clean with increasing body as the roast gets darker. A great balance between citrus, floral, herbal and chocolate. A very clean, exotic and balanced cup of coffee. Although still considered a higher acidity cup, this offering is more about the fuller body and complex darker tones. Especially at lighter roasts, one will see a more citric style acidity, comingling with a green tea like spice, clean as a whistle, but may be a little sharp for some. Medium roasts bring a more potent chocolaty cup with some floral highlights, lingering spice in the aftertaste. Darker roasts get much thicker and semi-sweet, would put in on the bakers chocolate side of things with some soft fruit and spice lingering on the tongue, a little smoky if you go real dark.

As the cup sets up longer one can see some greater complexity pop out with hints of soft fruit, nutty and caramel like tones. Pushing into the medium roast levels, the thickness increases and the chocolate/herbal factor will be the dominate tone in the cup hiding much of the citric and floral. A nice tasting coffee from light to dark. We thought it best right around a medium roast for daily drinking but depending on what you like, holds up well lighter or darker. Light roasts one can see the linkage to Kenya; citric and floral upfront, a sweet edge, thicker chocolate/spice undertones, hints of caramel with a little setup in the aftertaste. Not as punchy as most Kenyan offerings, but along the same line of tastes. Medium roasts really mellow the cup. Smooth most would say, a bit more neutral with just a hint of the floral and spice seen at the lighter roasts. Reminded us of a cross between the Mysore Nuggets and a nice Costa Rican coffee. Great for daily drinking. Darker roasts touching or into second crack retain the sweet edge and put a more malty/smoky taste into play with some lingering spice in the aftertaste.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.49.$7.29Current price is: $7.29.$8.49/lb$7.29/lb -

At the light to medium roasts it will show just a pinch of crispness and a hint of earth, not super citric but will leave a dryness to the tongue, a bit floral in its aromatics but not in the cup. Just before to touching 2nd crack gets rid of almost all signs of any acidity and adds some complimenting smokiness to the cup profile. A very smooth cup from a medium roast to just before 2nd crack. Into 2nd crack will get some edgy strength that dark roast fans will like.

A very clean and fresh batch from Selva Negra. A little citric & floral acidity upfront, balanced with nice complex nutty & malty undertones. Light roasts are going to be a little front loaded with the brighter characteristics, a higher rated cup meaning one will notice some decent crisp acidity at the light-medium roasts. Will give great depth of flavor but may be a little sharp for some. Our favorite roast and a great everyday drinker was in the medium roast ballpark, builds more of a smooth and creamy cup with a sweet edge, reducing that perceived acidity to just a pinch. Turns much stronger, a robust cup most would say, into the darker roasts but shined nicely; fuller bodied with strong malty and smoky tones, still a sweeter edge to it which darker roast fans will love.

A clean, sweet & smooth cup. Best at the lighter roast points but works nicely in the medium roast range as well. Lighter roasts focus the tastes more around the brighter citric/fruit tones: a hint of lemony citric that fades into a fruitiness, balancing with a darker malt like undertone. A good daily drinking lighter roast coffee. Comparatively to the Catuai, the Typica is mild mannered, delicate, less acidic, smoother, but with similar tastes. Medium roasts bring a more traditional cup with better balance. This should be the minimum roast level if you do not want noticeable floral/fruit notes upfront. Still has a bit of jazz upfront but a more pronounced nutty/malty tone to balance it out. The fruitiness turns a bit more normal for a natural, red-fruit like and sweet.Price: $8.99/lb - 7.79/lbPrice: $8.99 -

We thought it best right around a medium roast; balanced and sweet. Hints of sweet citric floral upfront comingle with smooth defined malt like tones, just the tiniest hint of a fruity factor in the aftertaste. Lighter roasts get much crisper, dominated with more floral citric fruit tones, lemony most would say but does still show a little malty undertone. Darker roasts cut out the more floral aspect of the cup and are very rich and smooth, more semi-sweet but still very malty, into second crack adds some complimenting smoky tones. A little fuller bodied at the light-medium roast level with a great balance between the lighter winy/floral notes & nutty/malty darker tones. Similar to Guatemalan coffee. Some acidity at lighter roasts but just a hint, medium to dark roasts would be marked as low acidity. As one pushes it into the medium roast range, the very sweet nutty tones come off a bit caramel like. Still plenty malty, it will linger on the tongue. Dark roasts turn pretty strong with the sweeter malty cup profile mixing nicely with smoky and roasty notes.
