The Colombia Premium Tolima – Finca La Bohemia – Gesha from Burman Coffee is an exceptional high-altitude Gesha green coffee sourced from the renowned La Bohemia farm in Colombia. This is Sabastian’s family coffee (a wonderful Burman Coffee employee), small batch production shipped in by airplane to give our customers some of the freshest coffee poddible. Processed in early August.
Green coffee from a family farm in Miraflores, Gigante municipality (Huila, Colombia): It is a Castillo variety, washed and harvested at altitudes of 1,600–1,900 m, hand-selected. It arrives by air in small batches to preserve its freshness (harvested in late July 2025 and threshed in early August). It presents an exceptionally clean and balanced cup, very versatile depending on the roast: in light coffee, it shows a medium body with caramel and nuts, an intense floral aroma and orange-like citrus with slight herbal and spicy nuances; in medium coffee, it gains structure, with chocolate and a subtle hint of lemon predominating, with a lingering nutty note, lively acidity, and balanced sweetness; in dark coffee, it offers a robust body with deep cocoa and a hint of black tea, while maintaining moderate acidity.

Sweet upfront with a hint of crispness balanced with a stronger toasted walnut/chocolaty undertone. A little hint of acidity at the medium roast point really creates a nicely balanced cup with a broad flavor profile. Touching 2nd crack builds some body and will add some smoky and roasty notes that can compliment the classic Colombian profile.

Smooth with almost a brown sugar hint at a strong medium roast. Pretty much everyone will love this coffee, a great everyday drinker. Strong savory with panela and burnt sugar flavors. The stronger chocolate undertones mix very well with the floral sweetness on top to create a lovely balance. Lighter roasts were interesting, pulls a bit of sweet green tea like spice, but for most Central American fans, shooting a bit fuller and creating a more chocolaty cup will be the way to go.

A great clean decaf coffee! Good from light to dark. Lighter roasting will show a little lemony crispness, rare for a decaf. Sweeter edged with a little herbal chocolate contrast. Medium roasts cut out most of the lemony crispness and rid the cup of its herbal edge. Smooth and rich, medium bodied, with a more pronounced chocolate tone; a bit floral and sweet in the aromatics, adds to the drinking experience but doesn’t come through in the tastes. Darker roasts are robust and strong, semi-sweet and very chocolaty with a roasty edge.

Best at the light to medium roast levels. Very crisp, clean and exotic. Great aromatics filled with jasmine spice and soft fruit. Lighter roasts are filled with new crop acidity and floral notes, mostly citric but a little soft fruit tone can be found. The balance of the cup comes from a semi-tea-like chocolate factor. I tend to think of it as chocolate spice notes but many tongues can pick up a little black tea note. Medium roasts still have a bit of citric acidic, build a good body and bring forth more of the chocolate spice note, reducing the acidity slightly so even more of the exotic tones of this cup can be found. Darker roasts are always tasty for those who like fuller roasts. This is how they would traditionally serve these beans in Ethiopia. Almost a shame, for it loses the cool spice and lighter note balance, but will still make for a good exotic smoky and chocolaty cup.

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Washed Gr. 2 – Banko Chelchele
Good from light to dark but we thought best at a strong medium to dark roast. A good bean to go after a rich and semi-exotic chocolate tone with some wonderful aromatics and a bit of spice. Light roasts are more citric and floral with wonderful aromatics and a sweet edged, a bit punchy in the citric department and contrasts with a bit of nutty/herbal/grassy undertones. Works well but needs a much longer setup time bring out smooth and clean tastes, sharp and grassy/herbal if drank too soon. Medium roasts will bring some lovely balance to the cup and provides a clean tasting brew without waiting a week to drink it. One starts seeing the chocolate aspect but will still pull some balance with the citric and floral. Less aromatic than the light roasts, but you can still tell you have a nice Ethiopian with one sniff. Darker roasts touching or into second crack are real robust, strong and semi-sweet, more bakers-chocolate like with tea like spice in the aftertaste.

Awesome cup this season, good from light to dark. Darker roasts which are more traditional for Haitian coffee, come off robust and strong with a floral islandy sweet edge and a smoky aftertaste. Bigger bodied and on the chocolaty spicy side of things. Being a little cleaner, this cup is very good at light to medium roasts as well; sweet with a more nutty/caramel tone, can come off a little herbal too light so tread lightly. A little acidity but not enough to push folks away. A lovely daily drinking cup. Heavier bodied and lower acidity, semi-sweet hints of floral and caramel, balanced with a nice strong earthier chocolate note. Darker roasting makes for a pretty bold cup with some added smoky factors.

Besides a chocolaty factor one will get some nutty/caramel/floral like tones at the medium roast points, gives it some nice complimenting depth without being too exotic. We all thought it was at its best right around a full city – smooth without too much of a roasty note and great chocolaty tones.

Indian Mysore Nuggets has been a favorite of Burman Coffee and customers for many years and this crop does not disappoint. The aroma is nutty, woody, and some slight smokiness. Many of the notes in the aroma come through in the flavor like walnuts and some smoke. There’s dark fruit, oak, licorice, and some vanilla spice, like a good dry red wine. The finish has a subdued brightness to it with just hints of lemon zest at lighter roast points. The body is medium to full depending on roast and brew. There’s a reason people keep coming back to this bean. It’s a smooth all around great stronger cup of coffee.

A little fuller bodied at the light-medium roast level with a great balance between the slight winy/floral notes & nutty/malty darker tones. Similar to Guatemalan coffee. Some acidity at lighter roasts but just a hint, medium to dark roasts would be marked as low acidity. As one pushes it into the medium roast range, the very sweet nutty tones come off a bit caramel like. Still plenty malty, it will linger on the tongue. Dark roasts turn pretty strong with the sweeter malty cup profile mixing nicely with smoky and roasty notes.

Some acidity, which brings lemony and floral tones to the front end of the tastes, balances them with a sweet edged nutty/malty undertone, hints of a vegetal spice. As one pushes the roast a little darker, the body increases, as the acidity and vegetal spice dissipated. Made for a very lovely daily drinker in the medium roast range; sweet, smooth & complex. Papua New Guinea Nebilyer Valley is a washed lot from smallholder farmers organized around the Kuta mill in the Tambul–Nebilyer district near Mount Hagen, with local infrastructure built over generations (including the Leahy family’s role) to move coffee from remote highland plots to export-ready processing. It’s grown around 1350 masl and the main varieties are Bourbon and Typica. In the cup, expect bright citrus (lemon/mandarin) with an herbal-aromatic edge, gentle clove-like spice and a light floral touch; as it cools, it turns sweeter with a dark-chocolate backbone plus caramel/peanut tones. It’s generally forgiving to roast, but it “clicks” best at medium to dark—medium keeps the citrus/floral lift while building enough sweetness for the chocolate base, and darker roasts intensify the chocolate/spice and make the herbal notes more savory (watch development after first crack).

A lovely & fresh coffee, our first new crop Peru. Best from medium to dark roasts, a good daily drinker. Medium to low acidity, with a thicker body and mouthfeel. A wonderful more chocolaty cup than shows some nuttiness. Lighter roasting will show just a pinch of citric, which provides nice depth of flavor but be a little careful ligher, too light will show some grassy/herbal tones. Medium roasts and beyond produce a smooth and rich cup, more chocolaty than nutty, pulls a peanut brittle like tone (some may say hint of caramel), not quite candy like, more peanut than brittle but we all thought it to be a good descriptor. Dark roasts turns the cup pretty chocolaty, retains the sweet edge and a couple even noticed a little floral hint to it.

It’s processed through the Jarama washing station network and typically dried on raised beds at high elevation (around 1700–1900 masl). At a medium roast you’ll usually get a sweet, clean profile with a nutty/chocolate base and a light citrus lift; roasted lighter it leans brighter and more fruit-forward (grape-like), and pushed darker it turns deeper and sweeter with more cocoa and caramelized sugar and less acidity.

Medium to dark roast beans & a great daily drinker! This cup is very thick and creamy, filled with semi-sweet chocolate and nutty tones. A very easy to drink coffee. A hint of soft fruit can be seen at the light to medium roasts but pretty faint, not super noticeable until the cup cools. A bit of peppery spice at the darker roasts with some complimenting roasty and smoky tones. Lighter roasts will show some lemony acidity and can accentuate the fruitiness of the cup but often will come off a bit too dry. These beans are more about the creamy fuller bodied and smooth chocolate and nutty tones which will come out from medium roasts and beyond.
