The main appearance difference is an all matte-black finish, versus black on stainless. Turns out coffee roasting can stain “stainless”… this model should look a little nicer after years of roasting. Other improvements include a stronger door handle along with a double-paned window for better insulation. A new motor gives the user more control over drum speed.

At the darker roasts a very sweet first taste, almost a little fruity, and then quickly turns darker-toned with a bakers chocolate and slightly toasted walnut flavor. Great blend base for espresso or adding body with darker tones although many will love it as an single origin drinker.

Lighter roasts show lemon, floral & soft fruit contrasted by a nuttier (almond like) undertone, a sweet edged cup. The two combine for a hints of caramel, quite tasty for you light roast fans. Medium roasts are richer, more of a developed chocolaty tone and decently less nutty; mutes up the soury floral edge, retains a little hint of soft fruit as the cup cools. Fairly neutral tasting and very chuggable. Darker promotes a thicker body and introduces a slightly bitter contrast that works very well for espresso.

China Premium Yunnan – Torch Coffee – Menglian Red Honey
Clean, sweet and balanced, this is the Yunnan offerings for most coffee fans. Best at the light to medium roast levels: there is a little crisp citric upfront, a bit more lime than lemon, a hint of red fruit giving a sweet edge. These lovely lighter tones pull some balance with a nutty/chocolate like undertone with a bit of spice, accentuated as you push the roast darker. Medium bodied, medium brightness levels, small hints of red fruit more noticeable as the cup cools. Light roasts themselves are much more citric, good to give a longer setup if shooting light, mellow out the crispness a bit. Turns much more chocolaty at the darker roasts but will introduce potent bitter, semi-sweet chocolate like notes. Medium roasts present the best balance and would qualify as a jazzy daily drinker.
