Good from light to dark although we thought it best at a nice medium roast. Crisp tones, slight citrus/fruit note and a fuller bodied rustic chocolaty factor to balance it off. Sweet and clean, this is a stronger cup of a coffee! Just a bit of the classic Indo earthiness, I might link this coffee closer to an exotic Colombian than an Indo (which is way cool). Very nice rich chocolate tones (a little sweet malt/caramel as it cools) adds to the mix of delicate flavors present in this cup. A slight smoky aftertaste can be picked up at the darker roast points. This is a must try for anyone who likes a real full bodied complex cup of joe!

Best at a medium to dark roast, this cup gets pretty thick and creamy with a small hint of lemony floral acidity upfront balanced with a very chocolaty undertone. Fuller bodied with some exotic spice notes in the cup, a tasty unique treat for Indonesian fans. Lighter roasts come off with some strong African like herbal notes (think Kenya) which some will love but can be a bit too potent for others, which is why we would recommend medium to dark roasts, turns it much more chocolaty than herbal. One tasty Indonesian bean. Low acidity, thick and creamy, with some soft fruit tones and good sweetness balanced with an earthy chocolaty undertone that creates quite the treat. Surprisingly for an Indonesian, the best roast we found on this one was in the light-medium roast range. Smooth, clean, balanced and exotic. The darker one went, the less sweet and more potent edgy chocolaty smokey tones came out of it. Still tasty for an Indo fan but the lovely medium roasts with some soft fruit hints, fuller body and creamy body were quite a tasty surprise.

Full bodied and darker toned like a Sumatra. Chocolaty, a bit of smoke and a very nice soft fruit tones balancing in. Light roasts will see just a little hint of citric acidity, soft cup and semi earthy chocolaty tones, good but risks a little grassy tone like many wet-hulled coffees, more interesting than most Sumatra coffees with its sweeter hint of soft fruit. Medium roasts shine very nicely, good balance of light and dark tones; lower acidity smooth cup. Darker roast get a little fuller bodied, much smokier with a more bakers chocolate spin. Very tasty and complex darker roast coffee.

Do you like traditional Sumatra coffees? If so, this will be one to try. Even though its a washed processed, it tastes like a wet-hulled Sumatra with a unique spin. Shines medium to dark, low acidity, thick and creamy with mainly a chocolaty undertone. Gets pretty potent like a traditional Sumatra the darker you roast. Hints of sweetness linger at most roast levels, medium roasts have a little hidden soft fruit tone as the cup cools. Not your average Sumatra. Our first roast on this was a city plus (light/medium) and we drank it after about 12 hours. Found out a washed Sumatra can have some decent acidity, strong lemony citric and floral tones with a hint of soft fruit balanced with some spicy chocolate. While my brain is telling me this is no Sumatra, my tongue is enjoying this tasty treat. Medium roasts drop the acidity nicely especially with a bit of setup, turns the cup much smoother and richer with clean chocolaty tones and hint of green tea spice note in the aftertaste. A very nice balanced cup – hard to link it to a Sumatra but very tasty. A sweet edge up front with a more creamy and clean chocolaty note, similar to a Costa but less nutty. Light to medium roasts will have some lemony floral tones upfront that mellow with a couple day setup and bring out just a touch of a red fruit in the aftertaste. Fruity, winy, floral, herbal, earthy, chocolaty, smoky are only some of the descriptors one can pull out of this coffee. Very different tasting from light to dark and over its setup period. Lighter roasts start pretty punchy, stronger citric/grape tones upfront with some small hints of a slightly herbal chocolaty factor. Medium roasts greatly mellow the cup, bringing out a fuller body and much more pronounced chocolaty factor, its Indonesian roots popping out more while not riding the cup of a fruity and sweet first sip, a very easy to drink exotic natural. Darker roast get a little bittersweet, unlike most other Indonesians, most will think this best roasted before 2nd crack.

Best from a medium to dark roast, wet-hulled coffees are not light roast coffees no matter how premium of an offering. Hints of citric crispness and soft fruit with a little sweeter chocolate edge, pulls some balance with some earthy spice (the good kind). Very clean cup for a Sumatra that is drinkable and balanced from a medium roast and beyond. The darker you roast, the fuller the body gets along with reducing any hints of acidity. Into second crack will turn more into a chocolaty spice noted treat but will reduce the sweeter edge. Very classic tasting, stout like Sumatra. A little sweet floral upfront and smoky in the aftertaste. Gets strong into the very dark roasts turning the cup semi-sweet chocolate like with smoky notes. Our favorite roast was just touching 2nd crack.

A very nice fresh crop arrival. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel, low acidity and spot on tastes from a traditional Mandheling Sumatra; peat moss, smoky, chocolaty, fuller bodied and strong. A clean enough cup to get a decent medium roast, gives a smoother mouthfeel and has a bit of sweetness upfront, darker roasts will turn thicker but also edgier and promote the smokier semi-sweet side of the profile.

A tasty cup from light to dark. The anaerobic processing really adds some cool tones at the lighter roast points, so to see these beans shine, keep them in the light-medium roast levels. Medium bodied with medium to low acidity, a nice rounded cup. Lighter roasts will promote the sweetness and have a little crisp citric upfront and a slight fruit tone as the cup cools, balanced with a little herbal, rustic chocolate note coming from the Indonesian roots. Medium roasts are much smoother and less citric, a bit fuller bodied and still very sweet.
