Description

Try some of our favorite light roast coffees! Fruity, acidic, even boozy; these are not your traditional coffee flavors.

Costa Rican – Dota Tarrazu – El Cedral – Natural Processed
A more delicate fruit forward refined cup of coffee. Very clean, sweet with dominate fruit (cascara/strawberry) and floral tones balanced with hints of nutty and chocolaty undertones. Traditional light roasts will have some crisp acidity while fresh leaning it a little more towards floral notes, we would call it front loaded but tasty. Not much balance with any darker tones and can end a little dry, but plenty wild upfront to make natural processed fans happy. Medium roasts will be best for most, medium to low acidity, hints of floral and fruit balanced with smooth and sweeter darker tones. Dark roasts themselves pick up a little bittersweet edge but have wonderful aromatics and good body.

Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Honey – Koke Coop – Gr. 1
Good body with some nice brightness right upfront, a bit floral on first sip quickly fades into a nice red fruit tone, especially as the cup cools. The floral/fruit is nicely balanced with a spicy chocolate tone with a faint hint of classic Yirg herbal tea like tones. If you enjoy a nice washed Ethiopian as well as natural processed, this will be the cup for you – not overly fruity, just a nice accent with great depth to the darker tones.

Costa Rican – Las Lajas Micromill – Finca Calle Liles
This is a quality cup in and out. Lots of cool tones to play with in the roaster. A bit higher acidity with a strong floral aspect, balanced with a full bodied nutty and chocolaty undertone. Slightly fruit forward but not a fruit bomb. The black honey processing really leave a crazy complex cup with tones ranging from lemongrass to red fruit to nutty/chocolaty and smoky undertones. Super light roasts lean the cup to lemony/floral and will be loaded with more citric lighter tones, not very balanced but very punchy and clean. Darker roasts lean it towards nutty/chocolaty more stout like features with fruity highlights. In the middle, one gets layers of all the lovely flavors in the cup. Crisp and clean lemony floral balanced with sweet and smooth chocolaty undertones than linger on the nuttier side. Hints of fruit will pop out but not hit you over the head.

Nicaraguan Org. SHB EP Jinotega – Finca El Pastoral – Natural Processed
A sweet and fruity cup; best at a light to medium roast. Light roasts are lemony and floral upfront which fade to stronger red fruit and balances with a hint of rustic chocolaty darker tones. Medium roasts clean up the more rustic chocolaty tones which many will like but also reduce the sweetness and fruity factor of the cup, becomes a little fuller bodied with low acidity with good mouthfeel, fruity factor pops out more as the cup cools. Darker roasts get a bit edgy with semi-sweet smoky and roasty notes, finishes with almost a bit of an oaky barrel aged tone.

Panama Premium Boquete – Finca Stacy – Noble Caturra “Redwood” Natural
A very jazzy cup of coffee with a strong natural processed spin. Lighter roasting points (before 2nd crack) are where this cup will shine. Light roasts themselves will be fairly bright with pretty strong citrus floral and fruit tones, very tasty if you like such things. The fruitiness is wild, ranging from grape to more traditionally red fruit. The cup will be pretty front loaded at the light roast points but a little chocolaty factor can be found when the cup cools. Medium roasts bring much more balance to the cup with some darker tones but tone it down a bit, which is good for some, bad for others. Too close to 2nd crack and the acidity and fruit is almost removed from the cup, still tasty but a shame to lose those exotic winy/fruity and floral tones. Darker roasts taste good but mostly full of roasty and semi-sweet chocolate tones.

Panama Premium Boquete – Mama Cata Estate – Typica ASD
A light to medium roast, very jazzy fruit forward offering. Medium bodied with a bit of crisp citric acidity upfront, this is the smoothest of the fruit bomb coffees. The red fruit overlays a nutty and chocolaty undertone wonderfully. Sometimes with this much fruitiness the cup leans towards hints of a boozy character but not with the ASD processing, crisp clean and clear tones. Although we consider it a jazzy lighter roast coffee, these beans do work very well at medium to dark roasts as well, richer and darker toned moving the fruitiness to the back end of the tastes.
