A very fresh and tasty Brazil! Lighter roasts show lemon, floral & soft fruit contrasted by a nuttier (almond like) undertone, a sweet edged cup. The two combine for a hints of caramel, quite tasty for you light roast fans. Medium roasts are richer, more of a developed chocolaty tone and decently less nutty; mutes up the soury floral edge, retains a little hint of soft fruit as the cup cools. Fairly neutral tasting and very chuggable. Darker promotes a thicker body and introduces a slightly bitter contrast that works very well for espresso.

Great cup from light to dark roasts. We liked it best on the lighter side of a medium roast, good shot at a hint of caramel (sweet and nutty) in the cup. Hints of citric acidity comingle with a nutty/caramel like tone with a sweet edge, reminiscent of a nice Honduran coffee. Clean cup, a bit brighter with a pinch of soft fruit at the lighter roasts, the contrasting nuttiness can come off a bit dry but smooths out with a longer setup. Much more chocolaty at the darker roasts with a noticeable increase in the body of the cup, still very sweet with a bit of roasty nuttiness in the aftertaste.

Burundi Premium JNP Kayanza – Incuti Washed
A lovely coffee from light to dark. Your personal tastes will dictate what level to roast these beans to, if in doubt, a nice medium roast provides the best balance and depth of flavors. Light roasts will have a lemony citric crispness balancing with a sweet edged nutty/caramel/chocolate/spice like undertone. Takes a longer setup for lighter roasts to shine but for those who like sweetness and brighter notes in coffee will enjoy the lighter roast levels. Medium roasts build the darker tones and mute a bunch of the citric, a chocolaty cup with a burnt sugar kick, just a pinch of crisp citric that will disappear as the coffee sets up. Hints of nuttiness and spice pop out more one can see a little hint of caramel. Darker roasts turn the cup more into a semi-sweet chocolate bomb with a little spice in the aftertaste, much flatter but very tasty with a splash of milk or for espresso/cold-brew.

A fresh and clean arrival: best from medium to dark roasts. Lower acidity, fuller bodied, semi-sweet with a stronger more spicy cup profile. The classic Colombian nuttiness comingles with hints of a black tea like spice giving the cup some great depth of flavor. Medium roasts roasts are smooth with just a pinch of a citric crispness upfront. Darker roasts are full of bakers chocolate notes, more semi-sweet smoky with nutty accents. The spice will linger on the tongue in the aftertaste. Great bean for cold brew or espresso, but works for a classic Colombian drip brew as well.

A great clean decaf coffee! Good from light to dark. Lighter roasting will show a little lemony crispness, rare for a decaf. Sweeter edged with a little herbal chocolate contrast. Medium roasts cut out most of the lemony crispness and rid the cup of its herbal edge. Smooth and rich, medium bodied, with a more pronounced chocolate tone; a bit floral and sweet in the aromatics, adds to the drinking experience but doesn’t come through in the tastes. Darker roasts are robust and strong, semi-sweet and very chocolaty with a roasty edge.

Clean and sweet; this Ethiopian cup is a bit more delicate than most. Lower acidity and best in the medium roast range, will work for darker roast fans as well. We would avoid super light roasts, blooms into a well defined treat at city+ to full city+ roast levels. Wonderful aromatics and a nice floral tone without too much citric in the cup. Medium roasts produce a nice and chocolaty cup with floral highlights and a sweet edge, hints of tea like spice in the aftertaste. Smooth, balanced and rich cup with exotic highlights. Darker roasts are less smooth but even more chocolaty, a bit semi-sweet with some complimenting roasty attributes and stronger tea like spice notes. A lovely coffee. Low acidity, medium body with rich and robust darker tones ringing throughout the cup. Medium to dark roasts are where these beans shine. Lighter roasting without much acidity will leave the cup a bit nutty and lacking but clean. Starting at about a medium roast the cup builds a wonderful chocolate note with some smoky and malty overtones. A bit on the sweeter smoother side, a tasty treat. Darker roasts, close to touching 2nd crack and where the much more robust tones pop out of the cup, reminiscent of a nice Haitian cigar.

A great medium to dark roast coffee. Full bodied, low acidity, great mouthfeel, robust and strong coffee with hints of a exotic spice. Lighter roasts get a cool semi-floral sweet tone upfront but will pull more towards grassy caramel with a slight hint of herbal spice. As one progresses towards the darker roasts it gets much fuller bodied and creamy with clean chocolate/malt like tastes, a little hint of floral acidity at the full city roast level. Into 2nd crack adds some complimenting roasty/smoky tones that with the fuller body and malty profile, will be quite the tasty treat.

Besides a chocolaty factor one will get some nutty/caramel/floral like tones at the medium roast points, gives it some nice complimenting depth without being too exotic. We all thought it was at its best right around a full city – smooth without too much of a roasty note and great chocolaty tones.

A sweeter cup for an Indo with malt, chocolate with a little traditional earthy terroir of the wet-hulled Indonesians. Fuller bodied, a little hint of acidity at a medium roast, a definite go to for our strong-medium or dark roasts here at Burman Coffee. Pulls some molasses undertones as ones pushes into second crack roasts. Hints of slight smoky tone at darker roast.

A very clean, exotic and balanced cup of coffee. Kenyan coffees are known for their acidity and spice tones; this cup hit the classic Kenyan cup profile on the head without being overwhelming like some (very balanced in its tones). Not quite sizzling but a very noticeable lemony floral tone upfront at the light to medium roast points balanced with some herbal spice and fading into a nice chocolaty tone that lingers on the tongue. Fuller bodied and a bit darker toned than most Kenyan beans. Light roasts will swing the balance towards the floral citric side, darker roasts more towards the jazzy bakers chocolate alley. Holds up into 2nd crack for you dark roast fans. A very clean, bright and balanced cup. Best at the light to medium roast levels. At lighter roasts; one will see sweet and strong citric tones comingling with chocolate and herbal darker notes, classic premium Kenya. As the cup sets up longer one can see some greater complexity pop out with hints of soft fruit, nutty and caramel like tones. Pushing into the medium roast levels, the thickness increases and the chocolate/herbal factor will be the dominate tone in the cup hiding much of the citric and floral. Hitting 2nd crack cuts out most of the citric and will turn the cup more bakers chocolate, increasing the strength, but loosing sweetness.

A very clean and fresh batch from Selva Negra. A little citric & floral acidity upfront, balanced with nice complex nutty & malty undertones. Light roasts are going to be a little front loaded with the brighter characteristics, a higher rated cup meaning one will notice some decent crisp acidity at the light-medium roasts. Will give great depth of flavor but may be a little sharp for some. Our favorite roast and a great everyday drinker was in the medium roast ballpark, builds more of a smooth and creamy cup with a sweet edge, reducing that perceived acidity to just a pinch. Turns much stronger, a robust cup most would say, into the darker roasts but shined nicely; fuller bodied with strong malty and smoky tones, still a sweeter edge to it which darker roast fans will love.

A little roasty/smoky tone into second crack but it will compliment the more chocolaty and nutty profile. A nice medium roast for drip brew, darker for espresso and cold brew. In general, the strongest offering out of the three, smooth, big bodied & creamy with semi-sweet chocolate notes, nutty accents and a bit of lingering spice in the aftertaste. Lighter roasting will show some stronger citric acidity comingling with stronger herbal notes, a hint of chocolate, good depth of flavors but will be a bit sharp and herbal for most. Medium roasting gets the fuller body and more chocolaty toned cup with a hint of spice, unlike the other two, this will still have a little hint of citric, leaving it a bit sweeter tasting. Darker roasting gets hefty bakers chocolate note with complimenting roasty notes, no signs of the brighter cup profile at lighter roasts. A cool cup from medium to dark. There are some sweet island floral tones upfront at the lighter roasts, a sweet edge with unique spice; somewhere between a woody cinnamon to more peppery/clove. Wonderful aromatics accompany lighter roasts but could be a little too grassy/sharp for some. Medium roasts are more chocolaty, balancing with the spice nicely, less woody, more bold semi-sweet clove like spice. Darker roasts get smooth and creamy retaining those exotic spice notes to compliment the roasty and smoky darker chocolate cup.

Similar to most other Tanzanian Peaberry coffees, this is a nice chocolate bomb coffee at fuller roast levels: chocolate, spice and everything nice one could say. At lighter roasts however the cup is full of character, it picks up a crisp more grapefruit like acidity with lots of sweetness, hints of a chocolaty note with lingering spice in the aftertaste. Those who normally drink Tanzanian Peaberry, best to roast this one a little darker. Mostly these beans will appeal to medium-dark roast fans but being an exceptionally clean cup, it has some lovely balance and is quite tasty at lighter roasts. Similar to its Indonesian cousins (except washed processed), it gets real hefty into the dark roasts promoting smoky and chocolaty tones with stronger spice notes. Lighter roasting it is more delicate and floral, slightly fruity with some detectable lemony crispness, sweet edged, medium bodied with hints of a chocolaty factor.

A wonderful season for the Zambia washed. Good clean cup profile making it pretty tasty from light to dark roasts. We found the lighter side of a medium roast to be our favorite. Fuller bodied cup with a sweet lemony crispness balanced with a chocolaty dark tone, hints of nuttiness and spice in the aftertaste. Similar to a Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya but with a bit more body and less herbal spice. Lighter roasts accentuate the brighter more floral/fruity tones, a bit more showy of a cup with its brighter characteristics but not as chuggable, can pull a little herbal balance. If you cannot tolerate a bit of citric crispness, darker roasts are the way to go, mutes up most of the brighter cup features presenting a real big bodied, smoky, complex and very dark toned cup of coffee.Price: $8.79/lb - 7.59/lbPrice: $8.79
