A very nice co-op production Tarrazu that follows the classic Costa terroir, floral acidity versus nutty and chocolaty tones. Best at medium to dark roasts, a lovely daily drinker. A good balance of flavors that can accommodate anyone’s personal tastes, dependent on roast level. Lighter roasts are brighter, sweeter and more floral, balanced with hints of dryer, nutty undertones. Medium roasts had the best balance, smooth with a slight chocolaty edge and pronounced nuttiness in the aftertaste, just a hint of crispness to the cup. A great cup! Super clean in its cup characters. Very bright and somewhat fruity at the lighter roasts; citrus, floral and red fruit balanced with just hint of a herbal nutty/caramel factor. Medium roasts get more balanced, not as citric, building a bigger bodied darker tone. The citric turns a little grapefruit like and the nuttiness turns a bit more chocolaty, maintains a lot of depth between the acidity and herbal chocolate/nutty floral notes . Darker roasts get very strong and semi-sweet, think bakers chocolate with herbal accents. A little smoky and roasty but presents nicely for a more exotic dark roast.

Indian Mysore Nuggets has been a favorite of Burman Coffee and customers for many years and this crop does not disappoint. The aroma is nutty, woody, and some slight smokiness. Many of the notes in the aroma come through in the flavor like walnuts and some smoke. There’s dark fruit, oak, licorice, and some vanilla spice, like a good dry red wine. The finish has a subdued brightness to it with just hints of lemon zest at lighter roast points. The body is medium to full depending on roast and brew. A good cup from light to dark but to showcase what makes these beans special, light to medium roasts will be the way to go. Similar to a nice Ethiopian, light roast points are very jazzy with stronger citric/floral acidity mixing with a little soft fruit tone, pulling some balance with a sweet edged nuttiness. With the mixing of red fruit and the more citric edge, it does make us think pink lemonade upfront, but knowing the strain while tasting does plant some descriptors. Some were more down the tart raspberry alley for tasting notes. Medium roasts get fuller bodied and smoother, good nutty/chocolate like undertones with less crisp citric/floral acidity. Darker roasts will kill most of the brightness but will retain a little hint of fruit as the cup cools. Light roasts will see just a little hint of citric acidity, soft cup and semi earthy chocolaty tones, good but risks a little grassy tone like many wet-hulled coffees, more interesting than most Sumatra coffees with its sweeter hint of soft fruit. Medium roasts shine very nicely, good balance of light and dark tones; lower acidity smooth cup. Darker roast get a little fuller bodied, much smokier with a more bakers chocolate spin. Kayon Mountain has become a tradition around here, marks one of our favorite times of the year, new Ethiopian season! Beautiful coffee and screen.Clean, bright, sweet with a very diverse flavor set. Stone and darker fruit, citrus & floral, and spiced chocolate tones are the main flavors one can see in this cup, either accentuated or muted depending on roast level. Nice jammy body will be seen in the medium to borderline dark roast mark. Very dependent on roast – lighter roasting gives much more of the citrus, red-fruit with just a hint of a spicy chocolaty factor, a much dryer finish. Darker roasts produce much more of a bakers chocolate cup with a hint of a strawberry like fruit note and good sweetness, far less acidic. A very enjoyable cup from light to dark.

Great depth of flavor without all that citric and fruity that often comes with higher rated cups these days.Lighter roasting promotes the more nutty/herbal, darker roasting chocolate & spice. Lighter roasting took 4-5 days after roasting to get tasty, medium to dark roasts were tasty from day 1.

Besides a chocolaty factor one will get some nutty/caramel/floral like tones at the medium roast points, gives it some nice complimenting depth without being too exotic. We all thought it was at its best right around a full city – smooth without too much of a roasty note and great chocolaty tones.

A wonderful season for the Zambia washed. Good clean cup profile making it pretty tasty from light to dark roasts. We found the lighter side of a medium roast to be our favorite. Fuller bodied cup with a sweet lemony crispness balanced with a chocolaty dark tone, hints of nuttiness and spice in the aftertaste. Similar to a Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya but with a bit more body and less herbal spice. Lighter roasts accentuate the brighter more floral/fruity tones, a bit more showy of a cup with its brighter characteristics but not as chuggable, can pull a little herbal balance. A bit lower acidity and best from a medium to dark roast. For an African this cup is more neutral and chocolaty, has a little more character still then classic Central American offerings. Comparatively to a milder Honduran or Mexican the cup has hints of semi-sweet spice notes that create a stronger and more complex cup. Medium to dark leans it on the chocolate like side while roasting in the light-medium shows a bit nuttier of a taste. Medium roasts produce just a hint of acidity mixing with the nutty/chocolate like tones, if lucky one can detect a hint of caramel/floral along side of the more potent chocolaty spice notes. A good daily drinking choice, exotic but not too exotic; medium to full bodied and smooth, lower acidity and darker toned. Darker roasts get a bit more rough and tumble, strong chocolate and spice with hints of smoke in the aftertaste. In general, the strongest offering out of the three, smooth, big bodied & creamy with semi-sweet chocolate notes, nutty accents and a bit of lingering spice in the aftertaste. Lighter roasting will show some stronger citric acidity comingling with stronger herbal notes, a hint of chocolate, good depth of flavors but will be a bit sharp and herbal for most. Medium roasting gets the fuller body and more chocolaty toned cup with a hint of spice, unlike the other two, this will still have a little hint of citric, leaving it a bit sweeter tasting. Darker roasting gets hefty bakers chocolate note with complimenting roasty notes, no signs of the brighter cup profile at lighter roasts. Good from light to dark, but to see the fruit notes shine, keep it in the light to medium ballpark. A bit of lemony citrus upfront that fades into a sweet red fruit tone, followed by a bit of nutty/herbal darker notes. The sweetness and fruitiness linger on the tongue. A longer setup help rid the lighter roasts of the more herbal qualities. Medium roasts are pretty bulletproof and well balanced, showing a little more of a potent nutty/chocolate undertone but no missing the fruitiness and slight citric. A lovely slightly-exotic daily drinker. Light to medium roasts are preferred with our favorite roast being right in the middle of the cracks. Lighter roasts have a hint of floral/citric acidity with just a touch of sweet and delicate red fruit coming from the honey processing. A bit on the nutty/chocolaty side for its balance, starts as a dry nutty at very light roasts, turns more chocolaty as the roast gets darker.A little front loaded with the more acidic and fruity tones at traditional light roasts. Medium roasts have better balance between light an dark tones cutting out some acidity; smooth, rich and sweet edged. Dark roast loses the more exotic acidity and fruity edge but turns very thick, nutty, semi-sweet chocolaty with smoky accents.

A great daily drinker from a medium to dark roast. A very chocolaty cup of coffee, fuller bodied with low acidity, with some nutty & herbal accents. Light to medium roasts are crisp & sweet: Hints of citric balance with a nutty & woody undertone, a pinch of herbal spice in the aftertaste. With a longer setup time, assuming not too lightly roasted, that woody edge tends to produce a bit of a caramel twist which is quite tasty. Although good at semi-lighter roasts, we really enjoyed the medium to dark roasts better, fuller bodied and creamy. Semi-sweet chocolate and nutty tones dominate the cup with just a pinch of an herbal note in the aftertaste, a little complimenting roasty/smoky note into second crack.
