A great light to medium roast coffee. Delicate, balanced, clean, fruity and sweet. This is not a ferment bomb, the natural tones are delicate and well balanced, not hitting you over the head. An easy drinking lighter roast coffee: sweet, smooth, hints of lemony floral acidity and soft fruit, balanced with a defined chocolate like tone. Good body and mouthfeel, medium to low acidity. A more exotic cup that everyone will love. Medium roasts will start to roast the fruitiness out of the cup but still leave it very sweet, accentuate the body and mouthfeel.

A very fresh and tasty Brazil! Lighter roasts show lemon, floral & soft fruit contrasted by a nuttier (almond like) undertone, a sweet edged cup. The two combine for a hints of caramel, quite tasty for you light roast fans. Medium roasts are richer, more of a developed chocolaty tone and decently less nutty; mutes up the soury floral edge, retains a little hint of soft fruit as the cup cools. Fairly neutral tasting and very chuggable. Darker promotes a thicker body and introduces a slightly bitter contrast that works very well for espresso.

Sweet upfront with a hint of crispness balanced with a stronger toasted walnut/chocolaty undertone. A little hint of acidity at the medium roast point really creates a nicely balanced cup with a broad flavor profile. The aroma is floral and sweet like honey. A nice medium bodied, smooth & creamy cup of coffee with little stronger floral aspect, medium to low acidity. It does get a good lemongrass tone at lighter roasts with a soft fruit tone as the cup cools, crisper cup with a slight nutty tone. Turns much more chocolaty into the medium or dark roasts. The cup finishes with a pleasantly surprising spiciness. This is a savory cup of coffee with wonderful complexities.

The cup contains traditional Colombian tones (nutty and chocolaty) with a little spice in the aftertaste. Hints of a soft fruit tone as the cup cools. A little thinner bodied than the MWP. Darker roasts will deliver a much stronger bakers chocolate tone with a smoky accent.

Nutty and chocolate tones dominate the cup profile, hints of a green tea like spice at lighter roasts. Smoky, slightly roasty tones poke out at the darker roasts. More nutty than chocolaty light-medium roasted, more chocolaty than nutty medium to dark roasted.

Medium to dark roasts are hard to tell as decaf, creamy with a retained sweeter edge , a little soft fruit tone that pops out and a little complimenting smoky tone if you hit 2nd crack.

A great clean decaf coffee! Good from light to dark. Lighter roasting will show a little lemony crispness, rare for a decaf. Sweeter edged with a little herbal chocolate contrast. Medium roasts cut out most of the lemony crispness and rid the cup of its herbal edge. Smooth and rich, medium bodied, with a more pronounced chocolate tone; a bit floral and sweet in the aromatics, adds to the drinking experience but doesn’t come through in the tastes. A very nice medium to dark roast decaf. Medium roasts are a much smoother cup, a little sweet edge, nutty, with a touch of chocolate. Has a little floral overtone that makes it a bit interesting. Fuller bodied with a richer chocolate tone closer to 2nd crack. Some smokiness at second crack or into but retains its smooth and rich character. Decaf Mexican is always one of my favorite beans to get a nice and strong chocolaty note in the decafs. Lower acidity and fuller bodied, pretty hefty in its semi sweet bakers chocolate tone at fuller roasts.

A great medium to dark roast coffee: robust, fuller bodied, lower acidity and complex. Rich and smooth with nutty, chocolate, earthy and spice tones. On the lighter roast spectrum there is a little jazzy citric note that presents the cup a little sweeter, on the darker roast spectrums it will have some roasty and smoky notes that we found quite pleasant.

El Salvador Quezaltepeque – Finca La Esperanza – Natural Processed
A clean and mild mannered natural. A sweet cup that will pick up hints of fruitiness at the light-medium roast levels. Not crazy over fermented like many naturals these days, the fruitiness pulls nice balance with classic Central American nutty and chocolate like tones. Reminded us of the El Sal Cerro Las Ranas Honey, just one notch fruitier. Light roasts accentuate the fruitiness of the cup and will lean the balance towards a nuttier cup profile. Not too acidic or citric at lighter roasts, presents a nice balance between light and dark tones, will not develop the richer chocolate tones present at fuller roast levels. Medium roasts are where the more chocolaty aspect comes in, semi-sweet cocoa with a slightly fruity overtone, smooth cup with a milky mouthfeel. Medium bodied with low acidity. Darker roasts greatly accentuate the chocolate note but comes off a little bittersweet. An excellent roast level for espresso, or if you enjoy a splash of milk/cream. Hard to detect fruitiness at darker roasts but does pick up a some oaky complexity that will let one know it’s a slower dry natural processed.

The Guatemalan soil and natural processing add a bit of maltiness and fruit flavors on top, but you can definitely tell this is a robusta coffee. This would make a good high caffeine blender/espresso component. Similar tasting to many European style coffees. Although Robusta is more rare in the USA, it is still commonly used and drank overseas. An interesting coffee with a boutique processing method.

A great super fresh and clean micro lot from our friends at Finca De Dios. Awesome prep, one can tell a lot of care went into these beans. A great medium to as dark as you want to go bean type. A tasty mix of tones, great from light to dark. The cup profile is mostly down the malty side but these beans have some awesome jazz.Medium roasting really pulls together a tasty treat but you can take it lighter or darker depending on personal taste preference.
Hints of floral mixing with smooth nutty & malty features. Will show some winy citric and fruit acidity in the light to medium roast spectrum but all in all a medium to low acidity brew with a medium body.
Smooth, clean and sweet edged, a cup we are more than willing to drink all day. Guatemalans almost always hold dark roasts nicely for adding a little sweet malty note to the smoky and roasty tones is a tasty mix.

A lovely coffee. Low acidity, medium body with rich and robust darker tones ringing throughout the cup. Medium to dark roasts are where these beans shine. Lighter roasting without much acidity will leave the cup a bit nutty and lacking but clean. Starting at about a medium roast the cup builds a wonderful chocolate note with some smoky and malty overtones. A bit on the sweeter smoother side, a tasty treat. Darker roasts, close to touching 2nd crack and where the much more robust tones pop out of the cup, reminiscent of a nice Haitian cigar.

Bigger bodied and on the chocolaty spicy side of things. Being so clean this cup is great at light to medium roasts as well; hints of lemony floral, crisp, sweet with a more nutty/caramel tone. A little acidity but not enough to push folks away. A lovely daily drinking cup.

Lighter roasts get a cool semi-floral sweet tone upfront but will pull more towards grassy caramel with a slight hint of herbal spice. As one progresses towards the darker roasts it gets much fuller bodied and creamy with clean chocolate/malt like tastes, a little hint of floral acidity at the full city roast level. A very clean, well balanced cup, best from medium to dark roast. Crisp acidity with a small hint of soft fruit comingle with a more chocolaty cup profile. Can be roasted from light to dark but our favorite was a nice medium roast, followed by the darker roast. Lighter roasts: the acidity is a bit citrus upfront but will quickly fade into a slight island fruit tone, balances with a little herbal/chocolate contrast. From a medium roast on, the acidity is very gentle and balanced with a smooth to rough chocolaty cup profile, milk chocolate before 2nd crack, bakers chocolate and smoky into 2nd crack. Medium bodied and lower acidity, these beans as well as other Kona’s are mild cups comparatively to many other origins, be in for a delicate and tasty cup with layers of goodness.

A great cup from light to dark. Lighter roasts are sweet and have a little fruitiness, hints of citric and will pull some balance with a nutty/caramel like undertone. A little hint of spice lighter roasted but pretty faint. Medium roasts are a bit fuller bodied and smoother: cuts out the citric tones. A bit more spice noticeable in the cup making its Indian roots more apparent. Dark roasts are much bolder and pronounce the spice and chocolate tones, tasting a bit more like the Mysore Nuggets.

Indian Mysore Nuggets – Extra Bold
Indian Mysore Nuggets has been a favorite of Burman Coffee and customers for many years and this crop does not disappoint. The aroma is nutty, woody, and some slight smokiness. Many of the notes in the aroma come through in the flavor like walnuts and some smoke. There’s dark fruit, oak, licorice, and some vanilla spice, like a good dry red wine. The finish has a subdued brightness to it with just hints of lemon zest at lighter roast points. The body is medium to full depending on roast and brew. There’s a reason people keep coming back to this bean. It’s a smooth all around great stronger cup of coffee.

A very rich, strong and smooth cup. A cousin to Sumatra or Sulawesi coffee; Blue Moon always is a bit smoother without as much peaty earthiness, or swampy fruit. A sweeter cup for an Indo with malt, chocolate with a little traditional earthy terroir of the wet-hulled Indonesians. Fuller bodied, a little hint of acidity at a medium roast, a definite go to for our strong-medium or dark roasts here at Burman Coffee. Pulls some molasses undertones as ones pushes into second crack roasts. Hints of slight smoky tone at darker roast.

Very fermenty/fruity, lower acidity cup with good body. A wild old world natural processed good from light to dark. A beautiful tasting bean this season: slightly fruitier but still balances with traditional Indonesian character. Hints of acidity with stronger fruitiness at lighter roasts, strong fruit/oak tones on a more nutty/earthy/chocolaty profile at darker roast points. No missing the wild side in this cup. Medium roasts are where one should shoot for their first roast, mutes some nutty tones and pronounces the chocolaty factor for some balance, still plenty of wild fruity natural processed tones in the cup. Dark roasts will introduce some smoky accents but retain great sweetness. A great balance of slow dried natural with thick and creamy dark tones all in one cup.

A very nice fresh crop arrival. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel, low acidity and spot on tastes from a traditional Mandheling Sumatra; peat moss, smoky, chocolaty, fuller bodied and strong. A clean enough cup to get a decent medium roast, gives a smoother mouthfeel and has a bit of sweetness upfront, darker roasts will turn thicker but also edgier and promote the smokier semi-sweet side of the profile.

Light roasts are a bit brighter, more buzzy than citric, a more chocolate like base note with hints of the nutty in the aftertaste. Little cool hints of islandy floral/fruit notes pop out in the light to medium roasts. Darker roasts add a lot of body and dark chocolate smokiness but burn out all the delicate soft fruit and acidity which pushed this cup well beyond average for JBM. Similar taste profile as the Flamstead operation if you have enjoyed that offering in the past.

Light roasts will work for some, but will come off a bit more dry nutty with a citric edge, the cup builds really nice chocolaty tones with a hint of caramel and floral as one pushes into the medium roast range, a cup everyone would like. Darker roasts get pretty bold and also bring out a stronger nutty tone balanced with smoky bakers chocolate, medium bodied and low acidity.

Always one of our favorite Mexican coffees. Good from light to dark but our favorite was a medium roast. Medium to full bodied, medium to low acidity. Lighter roasting will promote a sweet citric edge balancing with a bit nutty/woody undertones. Has a hint of caramel after a couple days setup but risks keeping a little woody tone if too light. Medium roasts are pretty bullet proof, full bodied with rich chocolaty notes, a little nuttiness and vanilla like spice in the aftertaste. A clean cup with just a hint of citric crispness upfront. Darker roasts pick up a bit of roastiness but it compliments the very chocolaty profile, thick with no real hints of brightness. We liked it best medium to dark roasted: nice and sweet cup upfront with wonderful aromatics, fuller bodied and less acidic. Small hints of a fruitiness especially at lighter roasts. Bakers chocolate, malt, smoke and a bit of nuttiness comprise the darker tones. Very dependent on roast level, lighter roasts will be filled with more fruity and citric notes balancing with a nuttier, dryer, chocolaty undertone. A clean, sweet and smooth cup of coffee one can drink all day long! A little fuller bodied at the light-medium roast level with a great balance between the lighter winy/floral notes & nutty/malty darker tones. Similar to Guatemalan coffee. Some acidity at lighter roasts but just a hint, medium to dark roasts would be marked as low acidity. As one pushes it into the medium roast range, the very sweet nutty tones come off a bit caramel like. Still plenty malty, it will linger on the tongue. Dark roasts turn pretty strong with the sweeter malty cup profile mixing nicely with smoky and roasty notes.

Medium to low acidity, the cup does have some jazzy more floral tones at the lighter roast points, but too light & it will be on the nutty/grassy side of things. Takes a little fuller roast to see the chocolaty side blossom. Medium roasts and beyond produce a smooth and rich cup, more chocolaty than nutty, pulls a dryer peanut brittle like tone (some may say hint of caramel), more peanut than brittle but we all thought it to be a good descriptor. Dark roasts turns the cup pretty chocolaty, retains the sweet edge and a couple tasters even noticed a little floral hint to it.

Wonderful aromatics accompany lighter roasts but could be a little too grassy/sharp for some. Medium roasts are more chocolaty, balancing with the spice nicely, less woody, more bold semi-sweet clove like spice. Darker roasts get smooth and creamy retaining those exotic spice notes to compliment the roasty and smoky darker chocolate cup.

Best at a medium to dark roast: bigger bodied and darker toned. Lighter roasts will show some nice clean lemony floral acidity but do not fully develop the nice robust chocolaty factor, interestingly enough, one gets a bit of African herbal/spice in the cup at the lighter roasts. Medium roasts are where we thought it shined, just a small hint of citric sweetness upfront with a good balance of spicy chocolate notes, unique spice, more like the Indian coffees. Darker roasts get more like the Dominican with strong bakers chocolate and smoky tones, a hefty cup with very low acidity.
