A lovely coffee from light to dark. Your personal tastes will dictate what level to roast these beans to, if in doubt, a nice medium roast provides the best balance and depth of flavors. Light roasts will have a lemony citric crispness balancing with a sweet edged nutty/caramel/chocolate/spice like undertone. Takes a longer setup for lighter roasts to shine but for those who like sweetness and brighter notes in coffee will enjoy the lighter roast levels. Medium roasts build the darker tones and mute a bunch of the citric, a chocolaty cup with a burnt sugar kick, just a pinch of crisp citric that will disappear as the coffee sets up. Hints of nuttiness and spice pop out more one can see a little hint of caramel. Darker roasts turn the cup more into a semi-sweet chocolate bomb with a little spice in the aftertaste, much flatter but very tasty with a splash of milk or for espresso/cold-brew.

A very fun & tasty African natural. To see it shine, keep it in the light to medium roast range, although it’s a tasty cup from light to dark. Light roasts themselves have a stronger lemony floral tone right upfront. For an African it would not be considered high acidity but will be clearly noticeable in the taste. Behind the brighter floral notes lies a nice semi-sweet stone-fruit tone, similar to cascara or to some, strawberry’ish. The fruit and floral will quickly fade into a more robust chocolate note with some traditional spice notes kicking in mostly in the aftertaste. Medium roasts will mute the floral/fruity tones to just a hint over-top of the more robust chocolate & spice darker tones. Still exotic due to the processing but promotes more traditional Burundi like tones the darker you roast. Dark roasts themselves retain a much sweeter edge than the washed processed Burundi and one can see just a touch of fruitiness as the cup cools.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.75.$7.75Current price is: $7.75.$8.75/lb$7.75/lb -

Bright floral notes balancing with nutty & chocolaty undertones. Medium bodied and clean. A great example of a Costa profile. A sweeter edge to this cup but it doesn’t linger, the dryer nuttiness is what stays on the tongue. A very nice co-op production Tarrazu that follows the classic Costa terroir, floral acidity versus nutty and chocolaty tones. Best at medium to dark roasts, a lovely daily drinker. A good balance of flavors that can accommodate anyone’s personal tastes, dependent on roast level. Lighter roasts are brighter, sweeter and more floral, balanced with hints of dryer, nutty undertones. Medium roasts had the best balance, smooth with a slight chocolaty edge and pronounced nuttiness in the aftertaste, just a hint of crispness to the cup. Dark roasts turn fuller bodied and semi-sweet, accentuating the nutty and chocolate tones even more but will lose its floral and crisp sweeter edge.

New 2024/25 Crop! Regular Price $9.49/lb
Best from the lighter side of a medium roast to as dark as you want to go. A bit cleaner tasting but slightly less fruity than previous seasons. Lighter roasting presents some nice honey processed features: citric, floral, soft fruit with an almost oak/peat like finish, sweet & complex but does risk some underdeveloped tones if you nail it a little too light. Medium roasts were our favorite, still balanced and complex but will develop the traditional chocolate and smoky tones for which Dominican coffees are known for – to balance out those more exotic fruity and citric tones. Darker roasts are a little more complex than on the washed processed version, but not as smooth and rich.Price:Price: Original price was: $9.49.$8.29Current price is: $8.29.$9.49/lb$8.29/lb -

Kayon Mountain has become a tradition around here, marks one of our favorite times of the year, new Ethiopian season! Beautiful coffee and screen.Clean, bright, sweet with a very diverse flavor set. Stone and darker fruit, citrus & floral, and spiced chocolate tones are the main flavors one can see in this cup, either accentuated or muted depending on roast level. Nice jammy body will be seen in the medium to borderline dark roast mark. Very dependent on roast – lighter roasting gives much more of the citrus, red-fruit with just a hint of a spicy chocolaty factor, a much dryer finish. Darker roasts produce much more of a bakers chocolate cup with a hint of a strawberry like fruit note and good sweetness, far less acidic. A very enjoyable cup from light to dark.

First New Crop, Top Grade Ethiopian! Sweet, floral, delicate and well balanced. An impressive coffee at the lighter roast points.
Fresh, clean, and vibrant; this coffee offers pronounced acidity and a silky body that remains consistent even when cold. You will find citrus notes of lemon and orange, followed by herbal nuances that add depth with soft hints of peach. The finish reveals tones of malt and almond. This coffee is perfect for pour-over or cold brew methods thanks to its bright acidity and refreshing character.Price:Price: Original price was: $9.75.$8.75Current price is: $8.75.$9.75/lb$8.75/lb -

First New Crop Ethiopian!
Crisp, clean and exotic. Great aromatics: nothing like grinding a fresh Ethiopian with its floral, jasmine and spice notes to tickle your nose. Lighter roasts are filled with new crop acidity and floral notes, mostly citric but a little peachy soft fruit tone can be found. The balance of the cup comes from a semi-tea-like chocolate factor. I tend to think of it as chocolate spice notes but many tongues can pick up a little black tea note. Medium roasts have just a pinch of citric acidic, builds a thicker body and brings forth more of the chocolaty cup profile, reducing the acidity slightly. Darker roasts are always tasty for those who like fuller roasts. This is how they would traditionally serve these beans in Ethiopia. Almost a shame, for it loses the cool spice and lighter floral tone balance but equally as tasty if you like more chocolaty cups with some spice.Price: $8.29/lb - 7.09/lbPrice: $8.29 -

First New Crop Guatemala!
A great super fresh example of Antigua coffee, follows those wonderful floral versus chocolaty notes that made the region so famous. Medium roasts are recommended but good from light to dark. Lighter roasts will accentuate the lemony floral tones of the cup, the chocolaty factor will be just a hint but noticeable and smooth, a bit of nuttiness will linger in the aftertaste not present in further roast levels. Medium roasts are very clean and balanced – not too acidic, not too bitter – sweet edged and will have wonderful mix of tones. Darker roasts and smooth and semi-sweet, low acidity and very chocolaty.Price: $8.65/lb - 7.45/lbPrice: $8.65 -

A solid cup from light to dark, but for most drinking, a medium roast will be the way to go. Sweet with just a pinch of citric upfront, medium bodied, good mouthfeel, just a pinch of fruitiness and ends with a nice malty undertone. Lighter roast get a bit brighter and slightly more fruity but can risk a little grassy, medium roasts present great balance to the flavors and was very easy drinking, darker roasts retain a lot of sweetness and hefty malty tones, but will get pretty roasty/smoky. If drinking for drip/pour-over, medium roasts are where to go. If using for blending, espresso or cold brew, light or dark roasts can produce some really tasty results.

A very clean well balanced cup good from light to dark roasts. Crisp acidity with a small hint of soft fruit, comingle with a more chocolaty cup profile with floral accents. Can be roasted from light to dark but our favorite was a nice medium roast. Lighter roasts: the acidity & floral tones are accentuated and will be the first tastes your tongue will notice, a pinch of an island fruit tone but pretty faint, balances with a little green-tea, chocolate & spice dark tone. From a medium roast on, the acidity is very gentle and balanced with a smooth to rough chocolaty cup profile, milk chocolate before 2nd crack, bakers chocolate and smoky into 2nd crack. Medium bodied and lower acidity, these beans as well as other Kona’s are mild cups comparatively to many other origins, be in for a delicate and tasty cup with layers of goodness.Price:Price: Original price was: $35.99.$31.99Current price is: $31.99.$35.99/lb$31.99/lb -

A great cup! Super clean in its cup characters. Very bright and somewhat fruity at the lighter roasts; citrus, floral and red fruit balanced with just hint of a herbal nutty/caramel factor. Medium roasts get more balanced, not as citric, building a bigger bodied darker tone. The citric turns a little grapefruit like and the nuttiness turns a bit more chocolaty, maintains a lot of depth between the acidity and herbal chocolate/nutty floral notes . Darker roasts get very strong and semi-sweet, think bakers chocolate with herbal accents. A little smoky and roasty but presents nicely for a more exotic dark roast.Price:Price: Original price was: $9.99.$8.99Current price is: $8.99.$9.99/lb$8.99/lb -

Good from light to dark, very different tasting dependent on roast level. If you are a very fruit forward natural fan, sticking in the light to medium roast level is recommended. Contrary to many naturals, these beans rock at the fuller roast levels as well, touching or into second crack produces a very lively cup, not super roasty with incredible depth of flavor and good balance between light and dark tones.

A stellar new-wave coffee; highly rated and exotic. Full of citric, floral and fruit tones. We thought best served in the light to medium roast range. Higher acidity, fuller bodied with great depth to the flavors. Lighter roasts are a bit sizzling but also the most complex tasting; stronger citric/floral acidity comingle with a very sweet red fruit tone upfront, balancing with just a pinch of the classic Rwanda darker tones of herbal, spice and chocolate. Takes a little longer setup to bring out the small exotic hints in the tastes. Medium roasts build a much creamier cup profile, just a hint of crisp floral upfront that fades into a strawberry like fruitiness, balanced with strong dark semi-sweet dark chocolate like tone. Dark roasts themselves are still very lively cups but can come off a bit sour/bitter comparatively. They are fuller bodied accentuating the robust chocolate and spice notes but not a delicate cup like the light-medium roasts.

Lighter roasts will have a little citric/floral tone with a sweet and herbal edge, a hint of soft fruit. Medium roasts get much more chocolaty and less herbal providing a balanced cup, works nicely for all taste buds; smooth and rich. Best at the light to medium roast level. Good bit of citrus and red fruit upfront balanced with a thicker chocolate and spice note. Light roasts get a very jazzy stronger citric tone, with just a hint of a dark tone balance. Floral and sweet edged, with an emphasis on the fruitiness of the cup. Medium roasting brings the best of both worlds, some soft fruit, some chocolate and spice: medium to full bodied and far less sharp than the lighter roasts, but also a bit less fruity. More of a chocolaty cup with fruity highlights. Dark roasts get even fuller bodied but burn out some sweetness, taste like semi-sweet chocolate on the roasty/smoky side, thick with a bit of spice in the aftertaste. A hint of fruitiness as the cup cools but hard to tell its natural processed roots at darker roasts.

New Crop!
A wonderful season for the Zambia washed. Good clean cup profile making it pretty tasty from light to dark roasts. We found the lighter side of a medium roast to be our favorite. Fuller bodied cup with a sweet lemony crispness balanced with a chocolaty dark tone, hints of nuttiness and spice in the aftertaste. Similar to a Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya but with a bit more body and less herbal spice. Lighter roasts accentuate the brighter more floral/fruity tones, a bit more showy of a cup with its brighter characteristics but not as chuggable, can pull a little herbal balance. If you cannot tolerate a bit of citric crispness, darker roasts are the way to go, mutes up most of the brighter cup features presenting a real big bodied, smoky, complex and very dark toned cup of coffee.Price: $8.79/lb - 7.59/lbPrice: $8.79
