Super light roasts risk a little grassy/herbal but it straightens out at a city+ (medium) and holds up as dark as you want to take it. A very fresh and tasty Brazil! Lighter roasts show lemon, floral & soft fruit contrasted by a nuttier (almond like) undertone, a sweet edged cup. The two combine for a hints of caramel, quite tasty for you light roast fans. Medium roasts are richer, more of a developed chocolaty tone and decently less nutty; mutes up the soury floral edge, retains a little hint of soft fruit as the cup cools. Fairly neutral tasting and very chuggable. Darker promotes a thicker body and introduces a slightly bitter contrast that works very well for espresso.

Great cup from light to dark roasts. We liked it best on the lighter side of a medium roast, good shot at a hint of caramel (sweet and nutty) in the cup. Hints of citric acidity comingle with a nutty/caramel like tone with a sweet edge, reminiscent of a nice Honduran coffee. Clean cup, a bit brighter with a pinch of soft fruit at the lighter roasts, the contrasting nuttiness can come off a bit dry but smooths out with a longer setup. A lovely coffee from light to dark. Your personal tastes will dictate what level to roast these beans to, if in doubt, a nice medium roast provides the best balance and depth of flavors. Light roasts will have a lemony citric crispness balancing with a sweet edged nutty/caramel/chocolate/spice like undertone. Takes a longer setup for lighter roasts to shine but for those who like sweetness and brighter notes in coffee will enjoy the lighter roast levels. Medium roasts build the darker tones and mute a bunch of the citric, a chocolaty cup with a burnt sugar kick, just a pinch of crisp citric that will disappear as the coffee sets up. Hints of nuttiness and spice pop out more one can see a little hint of caramel. Medium roasts cut out most of the lemony crispness and rid the cup of its herbal edge. Smooth and rich, medium bodied, with a more pronounced chocolate tone; a bit floral and sweet in the aromatics, adds to the drinking experience but doesn’t come through in the tastes. Darker roasts are robust and strong, semi-sweet and very chocolaty with a roasty edge.

Best served in the light to medium roast range for drip brew for it will show its best balance and promote a hint of fruity/floral. Turns into a chocolate bomb at the darker roasts, more on the dark chocolate side, which would work wonderfully for espresso or cold brew. A lovely coffee. Low acidity, medium body with rich and robust darker tones ringing throughout the cup. Medium to dark roasts are where these beans shine. Lighter roasting without much acidity will leave the cup a bit nutty and lacking but clean. Starting at about a medium roast the cup builds a wonderful chocolate note with some smoky and malty overtones. A bit on the sweeter smoother side, a tasty treat. Darker roasts, close to touching 2nd crack and where the much more robust tones pop out of the cup, reminiscent of a nice Haitian cigar.

Kenyan coffees are known for their acidity and spice tones; this cup hit the classic Kenyan cup profile on the head without being overwhelming like some (very balanced in its tones). Not quite sizzling but a very noticeable lemony floral tone upfront at the light to medium roast points balanced with some herbal spice and fading into a nice chocolaty tone that lingers on the tongue. Fuller bodied and a bit darker toned than most Kenyan beans. Light roasts will swing the balance towards the floral citric side, darker roasts more towards the jazzy bakers chocolate alley. Holds up into 2nd crack for you dark roast fans. Low acidity and strong bittersweet chocolate tones with the traditional Kenyan spice note that leaves a very smoky tone on the pallet.

Our favorite roast and a great everyday drinker was in the medium roast ballpark, builds more of a smooth and creamy cup with a sweet edge, reducing that perceived acidity to just a pinch. Similar to the Sigri coffee but with just a pinch of brightness and no fruitiness, very clean in its profile. Smooth, rich and chocolaty with some spice note accents. Most would call it a pretty sweet chocolaty cup with a bit of spice. Very smooth cupping this year with minimal herbal tones or earthiness. Medium bodied with a sweeter edge, a cup almost anyone would enjoy. Kind of like a Sumatra coffee without all the earthy funk. Best served in the medium to dark roast levels but some will find joy at lighter roast points with a longer setup.

Lower acidity chocolaty cup profile with a sweet edge. We liked it best from a medium to dark roast, but with a little longer setup, light roast fans can find joy with these beans. Definitely a chocolaty cup profile with some stronger nutty and herbal/spice accents. If you roast before 2nd crack, which is preferred, one can balance in a hint of soft fruit acidity (similar to the Sigri) into the mix which is a big plus to the depth of flavor. Cup starts sweet at lighter roasts but will turn semi-sweet as you pushing into medium or dark roasts.

In general, the more neutral offering out of the three, smooth, big bodied & creamy with semi-sweet chocolate notes, nutty accents and a bit of lingering spice in the aftertaste. Lighter roasting will show hints of acidity, a sweeter almond/nougat/brown-sugar comingling with more herbal spice notes. Medium roasting gets the fuller body and more chocolate/malt with hints of spice. Darker roasting gets hefty bakers chocolate note with complimenting roasty-ness. Lower acidity cup overall but will show some crisp citric notes at lighter roasts, some floral characteristics as well. A little roasty/smoky tone into second crack but it will compliment the more chocolaty and nutty profile. A nice medium roast for drip brew, darker for espresso and cold brew. Lighter roasting will appeal to some for the sweet vs bold tones similar to African coffees.

In general, the strongest offering out of the three, smooth, big bodied & creamy with semi-sweet chocolate notes, nutty accents and a bit of lingering spice in the aftertaste. Lighter roasting will show some stronger citric acidity comingling with stronger herbal notes, a hint of chocolate, good depth of flavors but will be a bit sharp and herbal for most. Medium roasting gets the fuller body and more chocolaty toned cup with a hint of spice, unlike the other two, this will still have a little hint of citric, leaving it a bit sweeter tasting. Darker roasting gets hefty bakers chocolate note with complimenting roasty notes, no signs of the brighter cup profile at lighter roasts. Although its the brighter of the PNG coffees, it has medium to low acidity comparatively to other origins.

A great year for Peru coffees; the cup starts just a little citric, fairly low acidity only detectable at the lighter roast points, a little hint of soft fruit but mainly a pretty chocolaty cup profile with some nutty accents. Lighter roasts one can find a hint of caramel if you get lucky, and leans on the nuttier side, little citric will poke out. A nice medium roast will make anyone happy and provide good balance and smooth chocolate tones, low acidity – a good daily drinker. We thought best served in the medium roast range but will be tasty from light to dark: a very sweet cup at any roast point. Lighter roasts have some stronger citric/floral acidity, a little hint of a grape-skin like fruitiness and a spiced (herbal) chocolate undertone. Medium roasts build a much creamier cup profile, just a hint of crisp floral upfront that fades into a strawberry like fruitiness balanced with a spicier chocolate dark tone. Dark roasts themselves are a bit flat but still very sweet edged, hardly fruity but makes up for it with the fuller bodied more robust chocolate and spice notes.

A wonderful very fresh arrival great from light to dark roasts. Similar to most other Tanzanian Peaberry coffees, this is a nice chocolate bomb coffee at fuller roast levels: chocolate, spice and everything nice one could say. At lighter roasts however the cup is full of character, it picks up a crisp more grapefruit like acidity with lots of sweetness, hints of a chocolaty note with lingering spice in the aftertaste. Those who normally drink Tanzanian Peaberry, best to roast this one a little darker. For those who love Kenyan, Rwanda or more traditional Tanzania coffees, light to medium roasting provides a very clean example of crisper African beans.

Mostly these beans will appeal to medium-dark roast fans but being an exceptionally clean cup, it has some lovely balance and is quite tasty at lighter roasts. Similar to its Indonesian cousins (except washed processed), it gets real hefty into the dark roasts promoting smoky and chocolaty tones with stronger spice notes. Lighter roasting it is more delicate and floral, slightly fruity with some detectable lemony crispness, sweet edged, medium bodied with hints of a chocolaty factor.
