Burundi Premium JNP Kayanza – Incuti Washed
A lovely coffee from light to dark. Your personal tastes will dictate what level to roast these beans to, if in doubt, a nice medium roast provides the best balance and depth of flavors. Light roasts will have a lemony citric crispness balancing with a sweet edged nutty/caramel/chocolate/spice like undertone. Takes a longer setup for lighter roasts to shine but for those who like sweetness and brighter notes in coffee will enjoy the lighter roast levels. Medium roasts build the darker tones and mute a bunch of the citric, a chocolaty cup with a burnt sugar kick, just a pinch of crisp citric that will disappear as the coffee sets up. Hints of nuttiness and spice pop out more one can see a little hint of caramel. Darker roasts turn the cup more into a semi-sweet chocolate bomb with a little spice in the aftertaste, much flatter but very tasty with a splash of milk or for espresso/cold-brew.

A nice clean cup tasty from light to dark roasts. Fuller bodied cup jazzed up with some pleasant acidity, balanced with the classic Colombian toasted walnut and baker’s chocolate like darker tones. What separates it from average is a bit of clean acidity upfront which gives great depth of flavors; producing a sweeter, floral and slightly fruity contrast to the classic Colombian profile. Light to medium roasts are clean, sweet, floral, nutty, slightly citric and have a chance at a caramel like note developing after a longer setup. Medium to dark roasts are far less acidic, more semi-sweet thicker walnut like tones with a little spice in the aftertaste.

Crisp, clean and exotic. Great aromatics: nothing like grinding a fresh Ethiopian with its floral, jasmine and spice notes to tickle your nose. Lighter roasts are filled with new crop acidity and floral notes, mostly citric but a little peachy soft fruit tone can be found. The balance of the cup comes from a semi-tea-like chocolate factor. I tend to think of it as chocolate spice notes but many tongues can pick up a little black tea note. Medium roasts have just a pinch of citric acidic, builds a thicker body and brings forth more of the chocolaty cup profile, reducing the acidity slightly. Darker roasts are always tasty for those who like fuller roasts. This is how they would traditionally serve these beans in Ethiopia. A great super fresh example of Antigua coffee, follows those wonderful floral versus chocolaty notes that made the region so famous. Medium roasts are recommended but good from light to dark. Lighter roasts will accentuate the lemony floral tones of the cup, the chocolaty factor will be just a hint but noticeable and smooth, a bit of nuttiness will linger in the aftertaste not present in further roast levels. Medium roasts are very clean and balanced – not too acidic, not too bitter – sweet edged and will have wonderful mix of tones. A nice clean, rich, and versatile coffee. Lighter roasting will come off clean and winy like a good Guatemalan should. A little higher acidity than average, balanced with some developing malt like tones. A bit acidic light roasted but easy to enjoy if you classically like lighter roasts. Blooms into a more traditional Guat. chocolaty cup as you push into the medium to dark roast levels. The darker you go the less winy and acidic the cup will taste. Around a medium roast, the perceived acidity drops and creates a rich, fuller bodied, chocolaty cup with a smooth and sweet edge. A hint of floral mixing it to keep it crisp. Dark roasts into second crack will work for you dark roast fans, a bit more stout like with low acidity with semi-sweet smoky/chocolate like notes.

Bigger bodied and on the chocolaty spicy side of things. Being so clean this cup is great at light to medium roasts as well; hints of lemony floral, crisp, sweet with a more nutty/caramel tone. A little acidity but not enough to push folks away. A lovely daily drinking cup.

A very clean well balanced cup good from light to dark roasts. Crisp acidity with a small hint of soft fruit, comingle with a more chocolaty cup profile with floral accents. Can be roasted from light to dark but our favorite was a nice medium roast. Lighter roasts: the acidity & floral tones are accentuated and will be the first tastes your tongue will notice, a pinch of an island fruit tone but pretty faint, balances with a little green-tea, chocolate & spice dark tone. From a medium roast on, the acidity is very gentle and balanced with a smooth to rough chocolaty cup profile, milk chocolate before 2nd crack, bakers chocolate and smoky into 2nd crack. Medium bodied and lower acidity, these beans as well as other Kona’s are mild cups comparatively to many other origins, be in for a delicate and tasty cup with layers of goodness.

At light roasts it will have some lemony acidity and a sweet edge, pulls some balance with a more peanut like nuttiness. Medium roasts introduce a more chocolaty than nutty tone and mute up some of the citric making it a bit smoother of a cup but also less complex, good daily drinking territory. Darker roasts taste nice but will have some roasty/smoky characteristics along with a good body. A rich and sweet cup for dark roast fans.

A good example of classic high end Kenyan coffee. Best in the light to medium roast levels but works at light to dark roasts depending on individual taste preference. Very clean and delicate for a Kenya. Light to medium roasts are sweet upfront with some clear citrus/floral tones. A hint of red fruit balances out with a chocolate like undertone, hint of herbal spice in the aftertaste. Darker roasts are decently less citric and floral, bringing robust bakers chocolate and spice tones to the foreground.

A great daily drinker from a medium to dark roast. A very chocolaty cup of coffee, fuller bodied with low acidity, with some nutty & herbal accents. Light to medium roasts are crisp & sweet: Hints of citric balance with a nutty & woody undertone, a pinch of herbal spice in the aftertaste. With a longer setup time, assuming not too lightly roasted, that woody edge tends to produce a bit of a caramel twist which is quite tasty. Although good at semi-lighter roasts, we really enjoyed the medium to dark roasts better, fuller bodied and creamy. Semi-sweet chocolate and nutty tones dominate the cup with just a pinch of an herbal note in the aftertaste, a little complimenting roasty/smoky note into second crack. Most would call it a pretty sweet chocolaty cup with a bit of spice. Very smooth cupping this year with minimal herbal tones or earthiness. Medium bodied with a sweeter edge, a cup almost anyone would enjoy. Kind of like a Sumatra coffee without all the earthy funk. Definitely a chocolaty cup profile with some stronger nutty and herbal/spice accents. Stand up beans good from light to dark, but we thought best at the fuller roast levels. Medium to full bodied, lower acidity, clean and chocolaty with some nice fruity overtones. Lighter roasts will have a little citric/floral tone with a sweet and herbal edge, a hint of soft fruit. Medium roasts get much more chocolaty and less herbal providing a balanced cup, works nicely for all taste buds; smooth and rich. Rich and chocolaty, Tanz coffee is always high on our go to list for stronger chocolaty darker roast coffee. At the medium roasts one will see a more gentle cup with good body, a little sweeter edge, hints of acidity and stronger chocolaty spice. Darker roasts get much fuller bodied and bring out the very strong bakers chocolate edge balancing nicely with classic African spice note and complimenting roasty/smoky tones. A nice and clean taste, good from light to dark. Mostly these beans will appeal to medium-dark roast fans but being an exceptionally clean cup, it has some lovely balance and is quite tasty at lighter roasts. Similar to its Indonesian cousins (except washed processed), it gets real hefty into the dark roasts promoting smoky and chocolaty tones with stronger spice notes. Lighter roasting it is more delicate and floral, slightly fruity with some detectable lemony crispness, sweet edged, medium bodied with hints of a chocolaty factor.

A wonderful season for the Zambia washed. Good clean cup profile making it pretty tasty from light to dark roasts. We found the lighter side of a medium roast to be our favorite. Fuller bodied cup with a sweet lemony crispness balanced with a chocolaty dark tone, hints of nuttiness and spice in the aftertaste. Similar to a Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya but with a bit more body and less herbal spice. Lighter roasts accentuate the brighter more floral/fruity tones, a bit more showy of a cup with its brighter characteristics but not as chuggable, can pull a little herbal balance. If you cannot tolerate a bit of citric crispness, darker roasts are the way to go, mutes up most of the brighter cup features presenting a real big bodied, smoky, complex and very dark toned cup of coffee.Price: $8.79/lb - 7.59/lbPrice: $8.79 -
