A lovely coffee from light to dark. Your personal tastes will dictate what level to roast these beans to, if in doubt, a nice medium roast provides the best balance and depth of flavors. Light roasts will have a lemony citric crispness balancing with a sweet edged nutty/caramel/chocolate/spice like undertone. Takes a longer setup for lighter roasts to shine but for those who like sweetness and brighter notes in coffee will enjoy the lighter roast levels. Medium roasts build the darker tones and mute a bunch of the citric, a chocolaty cup with a burnt sugar kick, just a pinch of crisp citric that will disappear as the coffee sets up. Hints of nuttiness and spice pop out more one can see a little hint of caramel. Darker roasts turn the cup more into a semi-sweet chocolate bomb with a little spice in the aftertaste, much flatter but very tasty with a splash of milk or for espresso/cold-brew.

A good cup from light to dark but to showcase what makes these beans special, light to medium roasts will be the way to go. Light roast points are very jazzy with stronger citric/floral acidity mixing with a little soft fruit tone, pulling some balance with a sweet edged nuttiness. With the red fruit and more citric components, it makes us think pink lemonade upfront, but some were more down the tart raspberry alley. Medium roasts get fuller bodied and smoother, good nutty/chocolate like undertones with less crisp citric/floral acidity. Darker roasts will kill most of the brightness but will retain a little hint of fruit as the cup cools. Much more chocolaty and robust at the darker roast points, potent brew, can have a little stout like bitter aftertaste but will hit the tongue on the sweeter side.Price: $8.99/lbPrice: $8.99 -

The classic Colombian nuttiness comingles with hints of a black tea like spice giving the cup some great depth of flavor. Medium roasts roasts are smooth with just a pinch of a citric crispness upfront. Darker roasts are full of bakers chocolate notes, more semi-sweet smoky with nutty accents. The spice will linger on the tongue in the aftertaste. Great bean for cold brew or espresso, but works for a classic Colombian drip brew as well.

Clean and sweet; this Ethiopian cup is a bit more delicate than most. Lower acidity and best in the medium roast range, will work for darker roast fans as well. We would avoid super light roasts, blooms into a well defined treat at city+ to full city+ roast levels. Wonderful aromatics and a nice floral tone without too much citric in the cup. Medium roasts produce a nice and chocolaty cup with floral highlights and a sweet edge, hints of tea like spice in the aftertaste. Smooth, balanced and rich cup with exotic highlights. Darker roasts are less smooth but even more chocolaty, a bit semi-sweet with some complimenting roasty attributes and stronger tea like spice notes. A lovely coffee. Low acidity, medium body with rich and robust darker tones ringing throughout the cup. Medium to dark roasts are where these beans shine. Lighter roasting without much acidity will leave the cup a bit nutty and lacking but clean. Starting at about a medium roast the cup builds a wonderful chocolate note with some smoky and malty overtones. A bit on the sweeter smoother side, a tasty treat. Darker roasts, close to touching 2nd crack and where the much more robust tones pop out of the cup, reminiscent of a nice Haitian cigar.

Bigger bodied and on the chocolaty spicy side of things. Being so clean this cup is great at light to medium roasts as well; hints of lemony floral, crisp, sweet with a more nutty/caramel tone. A little acidity but not enough to push folks away. A lovely daily drinking cup.

A great medium to dark roast coffee. Full bodied, low acidity, great mouthfeel, robust and strong coffee with hints of a exotic spice. Lighter roasts get a cool semi-floral sweet tone upfront but will pull more towards grassy caramel with a slight hint of herbal spice. As one progresses towards the darker roasts it gets much fuller bodied and creamy with clean chocolate/malt like tastes, a little hint of floral acidity at the full city roast level. Into 2nd crack adds some complimenting roasty/smoky tones that with the fuller body and malty profile, will be quite the tasty treat.

Lighter roasting will produce hints of a fruity island acidity balanced with a chocolaty/nutty undertone, jazzed up with a hint of herbal spice in the aftertaste. As the roast progresses the cup gets pretty low acidity and the nutty and chocolaty factor will get accentuated. A very clean well balanced cup good from light to dark roasts. Crisp acidity with a small hint of soft fruit, comingle with a more chocolaty cup profile with floral accents. Can be roasted from light to dark but our favorite was a nice medium roast. Lighter roasts: the acidity & floral tones are accentuated and will be the first tastes your tongue will notice, a pinch of an island fruit tone but pretty faint, balances with a little green-tea, chocolate & spice dark tone. From a medium roast on, the acidity is very gentle and balanced with a smooth to rough chocolaty cup profile, milk chocolate before 2nd crack, bakers chocolate and smoky into 2nd crack. Medium bodied and lower acidity, these beans as well as other Kona’s are mild cups comparatively to many other origins, be in for a delicate and tasty cup with layers of goodness.

Medium roasts introduce a more chocolaty than nutty tone and mute up some of the citric making it a bit smoother of a cup but also less complex, good daily drinking territory. Darker roasts taste nice but will have some roasty/smoky characteristics along with a good body. A rich and sweet cup for dark roast fans.

Besides a chocolaty factor one will get some nutty/caramel/floral like tones at the medium roast points, gives it some nice complimenting depth without being too exotic. We all thought it was at its best right around a full city – smooth without too much of a roasty note and great chocolaty tones.

A very clean, exotic and balanced cup of coffee. Kenyan coffees are known for their acidity and spice tones; this cup hit the classic Kenyan cup profile on the head without being overwhelming like some (very balanced in its tones). Not quite sizzling but a very noticeable lemony floral tone upfront at the light to medium roast points balanced with some herbal spice and fading into a nice chocolaty tone that lingers on the tongue. Fuller bodied and a bit darker toned than most Kenyan beans. Light roasts will swing the balance towards the floral citric side, darker roasts more towards the jazzy bakers chocolate alley. Holds up into 2nd crack for you dark roast fans. A very clean, bright and balanced cup. Best at the light to medium roast levels. At lighter roasts; one will see sweet and strong citric tones comingling with chocolate and herbal darker notes, classic premium Kenya. As the cup sets up longer one can see some greater complexity pop out with hints of soft fruit, nutty and caramel like tones. Pushing into the medium roast levels, the thickness increases and the chocolate/herbal factor will be the dominate tone in the cup hiding much of the citric and floral. Hitting 2nd crack cuts out most of the citric and will turn the cup more bakers chocolate, increasing the strength, but loosing sweetness.

Light roasts are going to be a little front loaded with the brighter characteristics, a higher rated cup meaning one will notice some decent crisp acidity at the light-medium roasts. Will give great depth of flavor but may be a little sharp for some. Our favorite roast and a great everyday drinker was in the medium roast ballpark, builds more of a smooth and creamy cup with a sweet edge, reducing that perceived acidity to just a pinch. Turns much stronger, a robust cup most would say, into the darker roasts but shined nicely; fuller bodied with strong malty and smoky tones, still a sweeter edge to it which darker roast fans will love.

Most would call it a pretty sweet chocolaty cup with a bit of spice. Very smooth cupping this year with minimal herbal tones or earthiness. Medium bodied with a sweeter edge, a cup almost anyone would enjoy. Kind of like a Sumatra coffee without all the earthy funk. In general, the strongest offering out of the three, smooth, big bodied & creamy with semi-sweet chocolate notes, nutty accents and a bit of lingering spice in the aftertaste. Lighter roasting will show some stronger citric acidity comingling with stronger herbal notes, a hint of chocolate, good depth of flavors but will be a bit sharp and herbal for most. Medium roasting gets the fuller body and more chocolaty toned cup with a hint of spice, unlike the other two, this will still have a little hint of citric, leaving it a bit sweeter tasting. Darker roasting gets hefty bakers chocolate note with complimenting roasty notes, no signs of the brighter cup profile at lighter roasts. Wonderful aromatics accompany lighter roasts but could be a little too grassy/sharp for some. Medium roasts are more chocolaty, balancing with the spice nicely, less woody, more bold semi-sweet clove like spice. Mostly these beans will appeal to medium-dark roast fans but being an exceptionally clean cup, it has some lovely balance and is quite tasty at lighter roasts. Similar to its Indonesian cousins (except washed processed), it gets real hefty into the dark roasts promoting smoky and chocolaty tones with stronger spice notes. Lighter roasting it is more delicate and floral, slightly fruity with some detectable lemony crispness, sweet edged, medium bodied with hints of a chocolaty factor.

A wonderful season for the Zambia washed. Good clean cup profile making it pretty tasty from light to dark roasts. We found the lighter side of a medium roast to be our favorite. Fuller bodied cup with a sweet lemony crispness balanced with a chocolaty dark tone, hints of nuttiness and spice in the aftertaste. Similar to a Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya but with a bit more body and less herbal spice. Lighter roasts accentuate the brighter more floral/fruity tones, a bit more showy of a cup with its brighter characteristics but not as chuggable, can pull a little herbal balance. If you cannot tolerate a bit of citric crispness, darker roasts are the way to go, mutes up most of the brighter cup features presenting a real big bodied, smoky, complex and very dark toned cup of coffee.Price: $8.79/lb - 7.59/lbPrice: $8.79
