A lovely coffee from light to dark. Your personal tastes will dictate what level to roast these beans to, if in doubt, a nice medium roast provides the best balance and depth of flavors. Light roasts will have a lemony citric crispness balancing with a sweet edged nutty/caramel/chocolate/spice like undertone. Takes a longer setup for lighter roasts to shine, but for those who like sweetness and brighter notes in coffee the lighter roast levels are best. Medium roasts build the darker tones and mute a bunch of the citric brightness, a semi-sweet chocolaty cup with a burnt sugar kick, just a pinch of crisp citric that will disappear as the coffee sets up. Hints of nuttiness with a stronger herbal/spice pop out more. Darker roasts turn the cup more robust, a semi-sweet chocolate bomb with a little spice in the aftertaste, much flatter but very tasty with a splash of milk or for espresso/cold-brew.

A awesome and super clean Burundi coffee. Best light to medium, works dark as well for robust coffee fans. A bit of lemony floral acidity upfront with a hint of soft fruit, balancing with a potent semi-sweet chocolate undertone with strong spice. Small hints of an herbal/tea like tone in the aftertaste letting you know its an African coffee. A bit sizzling but holds lighter roasts nicely. Smoother, slightly less spice notes and more chocolaty factor at a medium roast, much heftier into the darker roast, turning it into a strong and fuller bodied cup. A great African cup and not too acidic, one almost everyone will like.Price:Price: Original price was: $7.35.$5.75Current price is: $5.75.$7.35/lb$5.75/lb -

We thought it best from a light to medium roast, but works light to dark. A wonderful example of honey processed coffee. Just a pinch of a soft fruit tone, looks like a natural but tastes are closer to a washed processed. A bit more brightness with a crisp limey citric upfront, balanced with complex and slightly thicker darker tones: cocoa, spice, herbal. Light roasts themselves really show the brighter tones, not quite sizzling but your tongue will tell its a bit higher acidity, has the strongest fruit tone but can be a bit on the limey side fading to just a pinch of red fruit. Balances with a bit of herbal nuttiness with a hint of cocoa. Medium roasts build the body and chocolaty factor, reducing the acidity to just a pinch, real nice and balanced tasting cup, decently less herbal than the lighter roast points. Darker roasts turn a bit bittersweet and strong, no citric but can still be a bit buzzy. The herbal and chocolate notes pop right out with a bit of roasty in the aftertaste.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.25.$6.99Current price is: $6.99.$8.25/lb$6.99/lb -

A awesome and super clean Burundi coffee. Fuller bodied, a bit of lemony floral acidity upfront, with a little soft fruit tone as the cup cools. A smooth and rich chocolaty cup profile to balance it out. Hints of an herbal/tea like tone in the aftertaste letting you know its an African coffee but not nearly as potent as many. A bit sizzling at lighter roasts (higher acidity) but tasty for those who enjoy the profile. Smooth and a bit sweet at a medium roast, much heftier into the darker roast, turning it into a strong and fuller bodied cup. A great African cup and not too acidic, one almost everyone will like.Price:Price: Original price was: $7.60.$6.40Current price is: $6.40.$7.60/lb$6.40/lb -

A wonderful not over the top fruity natural! Lighter roasts are where this cup will shine. Hints of winy and lemony acidity comingle with tart red fruit tones, almost like an sweet red apple skin and balance with a bit of a chocolaty undertone. Not much for the traditionally African herbal spice in the cup but you may find hints in the aftertaste. Medium roasts get much more chocolaty and smooth, retains the red fruit tone nicely, a very easy to drink cup. Darker roasts pick up some stronger roasty tones, compliments the more chocolaty aspects of the cup, especially as it cools, the fruitiness will jump right out even at darker roast points.

A great medium to dark roast semi-exotic daily drinker. Good body and mouthfeel, a bit lower acidity with rich chocolate and spice notes. Lighter roasting will have a noticeable crisp lemony floral edge to it balanced with a nutty/herbal/earthy dark tone. Holds up lighter but needs a longer setup and can risk a little grassy/earthy/vegetal edge, shows a little hint of caramel and is much sweeter than the fuller roasts. We found it best to push the roast into the medium category to build the richer dark tones, muting up some of the classic African brightness: comes off nice and chocolaty with some herbal/spice balance. Dark roasts are strong and semi-sweet with a full body, complimenting roasty and smoky tones. We couldn’t find a roast we didn’t like with these beans, if you roast lighter, just make sure you do not mind a little stronger citric component.

A wonderful example of a fruity natural! Light to medium roasts are where this cup will shine. Hints of lemony floral acidity comingle with sweet red fruit tones, balancing with an herbal chocolate like undertone. Can be a little sharp at traditional light roasts, but it will be the sweetest and fruitiest roast point. Medium roasts get much more chocolaty and smooth, bringing the darker tones to the foreground, it will retain the red fruit tone nicely still, lingers a bit in the aftertaste. Darker roasts pick up some stronger roasty tones, compliments the more chocolate and spice aspects of the cup, especially as it cools, the fruitiness will jump right out even at darker roast points.

A lovely coffee, mellow for an African but still a little more potent and spice toned when compared to most Central American coffees. Lighter roasts show some small hints of a lemony acidity, a little soft fruit tone accompanied with some herbal spice and chocolate tones, a bit exotic but balanced, light roast African fans will find some joy here but for most, pushing the beans into a medium roast will be preferred. Mellowed the spice tones of the cup creating a much smoother lower acidity cup profile with a little sweeter edge. One can still get the spice complexities especially in the aftertaste or as the cup cools but smooth, rich and not too exotic, a lovely roast point for a daily drinker. Darker roasts picked up stronger smoky and roasty tones but it complimented the darker spice tones and sweeter edge of the cup.Price:Price: Original price was: $6.99.$5.64Current price is: $5.64.$6.99/lb$5.64/lb -

A stellar example of a fruity natural! Lighter roasts are where this cup will shine. Hints of lemony floral acidity comingle with tropical edged red fruit tones, what a combination! A chocolate like undertone to balance off the cup. Not much for the traditional African herbal/vegetal spice note which many Central or South American coffee fans will love, but may come off as a more delicate cup to African fans. Medium roasts get much more chocolaty and smooth, retains the red fruit tone nicely. Darker roasts pick up some stronger roasty tones, compliments the more chocolaty aspects of the cup, especially as it cools, the fruitiness will jump right out even at darker roast points.

We thought these beans best at a nice medium roast: clean, floral and semi-fruity cup. The lovely lighter tones balance with a little chocolate and spice note. Medium body, lower acidity, and a bit sweeter. The fruitiness is delicate and down the red fruit alley, strawberry, or a touch of lychee appear on the nose and palate, supported by a chocolate/caramel/spice darker note. We had one taster say it was more of a banana-like sweetness. Lighter roasting will accentuate the citric acidity and lean it towards mandarin/lemon tones leaving the cup crisper and sweeter but can pull a little earthy contrast if too light.
