Decaffeinated Honduran FTO Comsa Royal Select – NATURAL Processed – MWP

Description

Hondurans coffee really tend to shine with the decafs – smooth, rich and chocolaty while naturally being lower acidity. A bit more neutral and chocolaty but not nearly as nutty as a Brazil or Colombian. This is our first natural Honduran Decaf.

MWP is Mountain Water Processed, a non-solvent based decaf method out of Mexico. A wonderful newer decaffeination plant.

Tasting Notes:
A fuller bodied, smooth and chocolaty cup with fruity overtones. The stronger chocolate undertone mixes very well with the sweet fruitiness, creating a lovely balance. Lighter roasts show some awesome tea like spice notes and a much stronger fruit tone but can risk a little grassy/earthy/nutty if too light. Medium roasts are well developed and sweet with pretty hefty chocolate tones and just a pinch of a fruitiness as the cup cools; our favorite roast point. Darker roasts work well and retain the sweetness, but will not be fruity in taste, just a little sweeter and fuller bodied than the washed processed.

Roasting Notes:
Fairly easy to roast and best right around a medium roast. If seeing splotchy parts on a single bean, you are still at a lighter roast point, darkens up quickly which can trick some. An easy to roast bean, just make sure to error slightly darker than lighter.
