A great tasting, super feel good coffee! Not a fruit bomb of a cup, but definitely can tell its natural processed roots, sweet and complex with some highlights of a fruitiness throughout the roast range. Best served in the light to medium roast range for drip brew, showcases its great balance and sweeter semi-fruity tastes. Turns into a chocolate bomb at the darker roasts, more on the dark chocolate side, which would work wonderfully for espresso or cold brew. Light roasts has a pinch of citric acidity and wonderful aromatics, hints of red fruit that balance with a bit of semi-nutty tea like spice.

Kayon Mountain has become a tradition around here, marks one of our favorite times of the year, new Ethiopian season! Beautiful coffee and screen.
Clean, bright, sweet with a very diverse flavor set. Stone and darker fruit, citrus & floral, and spiced chocolate tones are the main flavors one can see in this cup, either accentuated or muted depending on roast level. Nice jammy body will be seen in the medium to borderline dark roast mark. Very dependent on roast – lighter roasting gives much more of the citrus, red-fruit with just a hint of a spicy chocolaty factor, a much dryer finish. Darker roasts produce much more of a bakers chocolate cup with a hint of a strawberry like fruit note and good sweetness, far less acidic. A very enjoyable cup from light to dark.

Best at light to medium roasts, a great example of Ethiopian coffee. Clean with some good brightness behind it, balanced with spicier black tea like undertones. Lighter roasts have a lemony/floral crispness with hints of a peachy soft fruit tone, pulling balance with a chocolaty herbal note. Medium roasts build a little more body and reduce that lemony floral to a hint, crisp but not overly sour. Dark roasts are bold and semi-sweet, thicker dark tea tones and spice dominate the cup with a little smoky accent. Tasty but a shame to lose those floral and fruity tones that differentiate these Ethiopians over other origins.Price:Price: $5.59$6.60/lb$5.59/lb -

Light roasts put off a sweet lemon acidity that fades into a nice red-fruit note, balanced with a tea-like dry chocolate undertone. A longer setup will help smooth it out and pronounce the fruit note. If shooting real light, make sure to flick out any beans not through first crack. Medium roasts are a bit more tame, no flicking required. Cup will get a richer chocolaty note with just a pinch of floral acidity and fading into a soft fruit note. Medium roasts are slightly reminiscent of the Yemen but perhaps still a bit brighter. Darker roasts are cool with these beans, as you touch 2nd crack you still have some nice medium roasted beans in the mix, a good balance of tones between the smoky chocolaty roasty and fruity citric tea notes.

Clean, rich and exotic. Ethiopian beans are always a wonderful treat. Being a high rated super fresh top lot, this cup is loaded with brighter citric, floral and fruity tones (think green grape, not natural processed red-fruit). Wonderful aromatics with delicate tea like chocolaty undertones. Very dependent on roast but hard to find a bad cup at any roast level. If you are an Ethiopian fan, lighter roasting is the way to go. If you don’t know or traditionally roast a bit darker, start at a fuller roast point. Best presented at the light to medium roasts to see the Ethiopian attributes but will be unmatched at the darker roasts, hefty tea like spice with floral aromatics and rich semi-sweet smoky dark tones.

New Crop!
A great cup! Super clean in its cup characters. Very bright and somewhat fruity at the lighter roasts; citrus, floral and red fruit balanced with just hint of a herbal nutty/caramel factor. Medium roasts get more balanced, not as citric, building a bigger bodied darker tone. The citric turns a little grapefruit like and the nuttiness turns a bit more chocolaty, maintains a lot of depth between the acidity and herbal chocolate/nutty floral notes . Darker roasts get very strong and semi-sweet, think bakers chocolate with herbal accents. A little smoky and roasty but presents nicely for a more exotic dark roast.Price: $8.39/lb - 7.19/lbPrice: $8.39 -

Wonderful light to dark roast beans. Too see it shine, we do recommend a light to medium but there are reasons we can think of to take it darker. A bit thicker and lower acidity for a prime Kenya offering. Lighter roasts are sweet and clean, medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. A pinch of citric accompanied with bolder chocolate notes, a hint of spice in the aftertaste. Medium roasts are full bodied and very rich tasting, lots of complexity to the darker tones, starts picking up some complimenting roasty tones as one gets closer to 2nd crack. Into second crack roasts promotes a bittersweet edge with strong bakers chocolate and dry malt overtones.

A very crisp, complex and clean cup of coffee. Similar cup to a nice Burundi or Kenya, the cup presents the classic African tones nicely. Lemony floral notes upfront giving the cup a nice sweet crispness at the lighter roast points, a little bit of a fruity overtone. Semi-sweet chocolate spice notes balance the cup out, a bit on the herbal/tea side super light roasted but will develop into a plethora of tones as one pushes the roast towards medium or borderline dark, very full flavored coffee. Dark roasts themselves get real low acidity and fuller bodied while maintaining a smoothness not often found in some dark roasts.

At the medium roasts one will see a more gentle cup with good body, a little sweeter edge, hints of acidity and stronger chocolaty spice. Darker roasts get much fuller bodied and bring out the very strong bakers chocolate edge balancing nicely with classic African spice note and complimenting roasty/smoky tones.Price:Price: $5.59$6.99/lb$5.59/lb -

Crisp, clean, sweet and exotic. Medium body with medium acidity, a good rounded cup. Light to medium roasts; The first tones to hit you will be a little bit of lemony citrus that quickly fades into some lovely red fruit notes – a little reminiscent of tart cherry but has some classic stone fruit in the cup as well. The lighter tones are balanced with a nice and clean chocolaty factor without too much of that classic African herbal note. Aromatics that will make your mouth water. Dark roasts are not really recommended, turn a bit bittersweet and kill the fruit forward aspects of the cup.

Best served at light to medium roast levels. Sweet and strong citric & grape like fruit tones will be the first to hit the tongue, balancing with a slightly boozy chocolate like undertone, a hint of classic African herbal as the cup cools. Wonderful depth and balance to the flavors. The lighter you roast wilder the fruit and brighter cup tones get, the darker you roast the stronger the chocolate/oaky/spice like tones will get. A very sweet, rounded and balanced cup with higher acidity and an exotic flavor set .
