Description
A fresh arrival of an aggregate production Huehue. (small holder coffee). A good screen and tasty coffee for daily drinking or blending.
High-grown, hard-bean coffees from Guatemala are a staple offering for us as they are for many coffee roasters: The crisp acidity, full body, and toffee sweetness found in these coffees make them valuable as approachable and affordable single-origin brews, or as backbone blend components that layer nicely with more complex or fruitier complements.
Tasting Notes: Smooth, rich and clean, this is a great example of traditional Huehue coffee. We think best from medium to dark but can be roasted lighter for blending. Light roasts will be more floral than chocolaty with some clear acidity, clean cup but enough acidity some might want to avoid lighter roast points, a little risk of grassy tones if way light. Medium roasts are well balanced and smooth, small hints of a winy/fruity factor on a semi-sweet malty base tone. A little spice note pops out in the aftertaste. Darker roasts are stronger and fuller bodied, chocolaty, not too roasty.
Roasting Notes: Medium to dark roasts are where this bean will shine but will be tasty light to dark. Light roasts just don’t have time to develop those lovely chocolaty notes. Easy bean to roast and play around with.
