Great cup from light to dark. While roasting the samples for the evaluation table we nailed the light roast, a bit too light, ending the roast while first crack was still happening, surprisingly it turned out excellent, a rare bean to be this tasty and developed around a blonde roast. Light roast themselves are crisp and clean, a bit of raised acidity, comes off pretty lemony, a balanced cup with mostly chocolaty with classic Kenya herbal characteristics, just a hint of nuttiness in the aftertaste. Sweet edge to those light roasts and a well defined cup.

Medium roasts reduce the acidity a bit, just a hint in the cup, smooth and stronger chocolate tones with some more exotic herbal spice, a bit mellow compared to many Kenyas but one you can drink all day! Darker roasts get pretty punchy, strong bakers chocolate and smoke with those classic spice notes popping out. A mellow super clean cup up until the dark roasts, which can get pretty potent tasting.

Description

An awesome super clean top lot, a little mellower than some but with how clean the cup is, one you will not want to miss!

Muthunzuuni FCS has a membership of 850 registered members with around 370 acres under coffee growing and production. Located in and around Machakos, Kenya. Muthunzuuni FCS uses the Mukuyuni Factory to process and sort their beans.

Beautiful screen and prep – great fresh top notch Kenyan coffee. Kenyan coffee is considered by many to be some of the world’s best but it is unique. Stronger acidity and spice notes than any other producing nation.

Kenyans (including this one) are known for their complexity and depth of flavor. You will find all sorts of small minute notes including a refreshing citrus, slight berry, lemongrass, cocoa, molasses, tomato, black tea and a variety of others.

Tasting Notes: Great cup from light to dark. Darker roasts get pretty punchy, strong bakers chocolate and smoke with those classic spice notes popping out. A mellow super clean cup up until the dark roasts, which can get pretty potent tasting.

Roasting Notes: To see this cup shine, one has to keep it before 2nd crack. An easy to roast bean, even roasting with medium to low chaff. Does have some acidity, so if you drink it within 12-24 hours after roasting, a definite noticeable lemony sour tone upfront. With some extra setup it becomes very smooth and less soury at those lighter roast points.

First batch roasted in my Behmor, roughly city to city+. Pretty much everything a Kenyan should be. Sweet, a little spicy and a little snappy with good body. A really outstanding coffee!
