Maui Coffee is Back!
Its been about three years since we have seen Maui coffee due to the wildfire. They are finally rebuilt and back in action! Good to have friends in high places: our pallet was the first to leave the island since the wildfire. Maui coffees are very tasty more classic coffees, medium to dark roasts, sweet edged with unique islandy floral/fruit notes. Lower grown than the big island Kona coffees, they are lower acidity and darker toned offerings, more on the nutty/chocolate side of things. The Maui Mokka is their claim to fame, actual Mokka coffee from Yemen that they have been cultivating for many years.

Maui coffees are lower acidity and softer beans, this is the Mokka natural processed: a very unique offering. Yemen plants that they started growing back in the 70’s and have been cultivating ever since. Very small rounded beans, definitely some of the tiniest beans one ever did see. These unroasted coffee beans deliver a very floral sweet aroma for the home coffee roaster afficionado. This cup will perk you right up and give you the initial island premium characteristic. The cup is medium bodied, fairly low acidity, clean and rich. A very cool sweet nutty and chocolaty tone will be the predominate flavor but you do get hints of light fruit and crispness at the lighter roast points and a little hint of a smokey molasses at the darker roast points.
