Great daily drinker from medium to dark roasts. Good body and lower acidity, nice and strong semi-sweet malty tones with a hint of spice in the aftertaste. At the light to medium roasts it will show just a pinch of crispness and a hint of earth, not super citric but will leave a dryness to the tongue, a bit floral in its aromatics but not in the cup. Just before to touching 2nd crack gets rid of almost all signs of any acidity and adds some complimenting smokiness to the cup profile. A very smooth cup from a medium roast to just before 2nd crack. A nice medium to dark roast more potent Nicaraguan offering. Medium to full bodied with just a little hint of acidity. Strong Medium roasts were our favorite with thicker more complex malty tones, a sweet edge, hints of herbal spice and almost no acidity, a good daily drinker being very smooth. A very nice and super fresh batch of their traditional farm aggregate. A little hint of citrus floral upfront balanced with nice complex malty tones. Great everyday drinker at a medium roast, balanced with a sweet edge. A heftier cup at the darker roasts and equally as tasty, fuller bodied with strong malty and smoky tones but still retains that sweeter edge to it.

Similar to the Sigri coffee but with just a pinch of brightness and no fruitiness, very clean in its profile. Smooth, rich and chocolaty with some spice note accents. Most would call it a pretty sweet chocolaty cup with a bit of spice. Very smooth cupping this year with minimal herbal tones or earthiness. Medium bodied with a sweeter edge, a cup almost anyone would enjoy. Kind of like a Sumatra coffee without all the earthy funk. Best served in the medium to dark roast levels but some will find joy at lighter roast points with a longer setup.

2nd batch of the season, super fresh top notch tastes but a higher price, this lot was purchased in the current super high market with new import costs.
Silky smooth and clean tasting, fuller bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Lower acidity chocolaty cup with a sweet edge. We liked it best from a medium to dark roast, but with a little longer setup, light roast fans can find joy with these beans. Definitely a chocolaty cup profile with some cool nutty and herbal/spice accents. If you roast before 2nd crack, which is preferred, one can balance in some melon and fruit acidity into the mix which is a big plus to the depth of flavor. Cup starts sweet at lighter roasts but will turn semi-sweet as you pushing into medium or dark roasts.

Good from light to dark. Smooth, big bodied & creamy with semi-sweet chocolate notes, nutty accents and a bit of lingering spice in the aftertaste. Lower acidity cup but will show some floral characteristics at the lighter roast points. A little roasty/smoky tone into second crack but it will compliment the more chocolaty and nutty profile.

Good from light to dark, very different tasting dependent on roast level. If you are a very fruit forward natural fan, sticking in the light to medium roast level is recommended. Contrary to many naturals, these beans rock at the fuller roast levels as well, touching or into second crack produces a very lively cup, not super roasty with incredible depth of flavor and good balance between light and dark tones.

A wonderful light to medium roast coffee. Leans a bit more towards a washed processed coffee than natural. A very clean, sweet and delicate cup with medium to low acidity: chocolate, spice, tea and fruit tones comingle nicely at the different roast levels. Lighter roasts show just a small pinch of citric and fruit comingling with complex tea like undertones, a fuller body and sweeter edge. Medium roasts mute much of the tea like spice turning the cup more chocolaty and semi-sweet, hints of fruit as the cup cools but hardly noticeable while hot. Darker roasts are more of a semi-sweet chocolate bomb, could be a bit much without a splash of milk but works wonderfully for espresso or cold brew at the fuller roast levels.

Stand up beans good from light to dark, but we thought best at the fuller roast levels. Medium to full bodied, lower acidity, clean and chocolaty with some nice fruity overtones. Lighter roasts will have a little citric/floral tone with a sweet and herbal edge, a hint of soft fruit. Medium roasts get much more chocolaty and less herbal providing a balanced cup, works nicely for all taste buds; smooth and rich. A crisp, complex and clean cup of coffee. The cup presents the classic African tones nicely. A bit of lemony floral notes upfront giving the cup a nice sweet crispness at the lighter roast points, a small hint of a fruity overtone. Semi-sweet chocolate with spice notes balance the cup out, a bit on the herbal/tea side super light roasted but will develop into a plethora of tones as one pushes the roast towards medium or borderline dark, very full flavored coffee. Dark roasts themselves get real low acidity and fuller bodied, mainly chocolate like but the spicier accents will linger on the tongue. Smooth and rich, which is not often found in many dark roasts.

Rich and chocolaty, Tanz coffee is always high on our go to list for stronger chocolaty darker roast coffee. At the medium roasts one will see a more gentle cup with good body, a little sweeter edge, hints of acidity and stronger chocolaty spice. Darker roasts get much fuller bodied and bring out the very strong bakers chocolate edge balancing nicely with classic African spice note and complimenting roasty/smoky tones. Lighter roasts will show crisp lemony acidity with more of a caramel/chocolate spin but can be pretty sharp.

For those who enjoy a bit more fruit forward cup, the lighter roasts really pop the fruit tone out along with a hint of citric and silky smooth nutty/chocolate/herbal darker tones. With a more intense roast, the cup transforms into a chocolate-and-cocoa delight with smooth caramel sweetness, a cool hint of mint, and a delicate touch of pine and herbs—smooth and comforting. The profile overflows with green-mango brightness and ripe plum; a floral acidity reminiscent of mango or mandarin lifts the cup, while the cocoa base keeps it grounded.

A bit lower acidity and best from a medium to dark roast. For an African this cup is more neutral and chocolaty, has a little more character still then classic Central American offerings. Comparatively to a milder Honduran or Mexican the cup has hints of semi-sweet spice notes that create a stronger and more complex cup. Medium to dark leans it on the chocolate like side while roasting in the light-medium shows a bit nuttier of a taste. Medium roasts produce just a hint of acidity mixing with the nutty/chocolate like tones, if lucky one can detect a hint of caramel/floral along side of the more potent chocolaty spice notes. A good daily drinking choice, exotic but not too exotic; medium to full bodied and smooth, lower acidity and darker toned. Darker roasts get a bit more rough and tumble, strong chocolate and spice with hints of smoke in the aftertaste. This cup profile is always one of our favorite darker roast coffees, strong and smooth without risking sour or bitter.

Although lower acidity, lighter roasts will still be a little citric and floral balanced with a rustic bakers chocolaty undertone. Medium roasts mute up the acidity and leave a little hint of a floral, developing a little soft fruit tone mixing with a smoother but still semi-sweet chocolate darker tones. Darker roasts themselves pick up some nice complimentary roasty & smoky tones mixing with a stronger bakers chocolate cup profile.

Medium to dark roast beans & a great daily drinker! This cup is very thick and creamy, filled with semi-sweet chocolate and nutty tones. A very easy to drink coffee. A hint of soft fruit can be seen at the light to medium roasts but pretty faint, not super noticeable until the cup cools. A bit of peppery spice at the darker roasts with some complimenting roasty and smoky tones. Lighter roasts will show some lemony acidity and can accentuate the fruitiness of the cup but often will come off a bit too dry. These beans are more about the creamy fuller bodied and smooth chocolate and nutty tones which will come out from medium roasts and beyond.

A wonderful old world natural filled with hints of floral/citric, rustic-chocolate, spice and a pinch of fruitiness. Compared to previous lots, these beans do have a little brightness in them, not high acidity, but not nearly as flat as some we have seen in the past. A rounded cup with medium brightness and body. Citric, floral, red-fruit, chocolate, earth & spice are the dominate tones. The citric/floral/fruit will be accentuated with lighter roasts. Chocolate, spice, earth with darker roasts. A lovely complex old world natural that brings your tongue back to the roots of coffee itself. We preferred the cup at light to medium roasts best. It has great chocolate tones at the fuller roast levels but a bit flat with more neutral chocolate notes. Having a hint of crispness and a touch of fruit at the light-medium roast levels gave it the balance we though it deserved.

Best at the light to medium roast level. Good bit of citrus and red fruit upfront balanced with a thicker chocolate and spice note. Light roasts get a very jazzy stronger citric tone, with just a hint of a dark tone balance. Floral and sweet edged, with an emphasis on the fruitiness of the cup. Medium roasting brings the best of both worlds, some soft fruit, some chocolate and spice: medium to full bodied and far less sharp than the lighter roasts, but also a bit less fruity. More of a chocolaty cup with fruity highlights. Dark roasts get even fuller bodied but burn out some sweetness, taste like semi-sweet chocolate on the roasty/smoky side, thick with a bit of spice in the aftertaste. A hint of fruitiness as the cup cools but hard to tell its natural processed roots at darker roasts.

A wonderful season for the Zambia washed. Good clean cup profile making it pretty tasty from light to dark roasts. We found the lighter side of a medium roast to be our favorite. Fuller bodied cup with a sweet lemony crispness balanced with a chocolaty dark tone, hints of nuttiness and spice in the aftertaste. Similar to a Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya but with a bit more body and less herbal spice. Lighter roasts accentuate the brighter more floral/fruity tones, a bit more showy of a cup with its brighter characteristics but not as chuggable, can pull a little herbal balance. If you cannot tolerate a bit of citric crispness, darker roasts are the way to go, mutes up most of the brighter cup features presenting a real big bodied, smoky, complex and very dark toned cup of coffee.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.79.$7.79Current price is: $7.79.$8.79/lb$7.79/lb
