Good from light to dark, very different tasting dependent on roast level. If you are a very fruit forward natural fan, sticking in the light to medium roast level is recommended. Contrary to many naturals, these beans rock at the fuller roast levels as well, touching or into second crack produces a very lively cup, not super roasty with incredible depth of flavor and good balance between light and dark tones.Read More:

A wonderful light to medium roast coffee. Leans a bit more towards a washed processed coffee than natural. A very clean, sweet and delicate cup with medium to low acidity: chocolate, spice, tea and fruit tones comingle nicely at the different roast levels. Lighter roasts show just a small pinch of citric and fruit comingling with complex tea like undertones, a fuller body and sweeter edge. Medium roasts mute much of the tea like spice turning the cup more chocolaty and semi-sweet, hints of fruit as the cup cools but hardly noticeable while hot. Darker roasts are more of a semi-sweet chocolate bomb, could be a bit much without a splash of milk but works wonderfully for espresso or cold brew at the fuller roast levels.

Stand up beans good from light to dark, but we thought best at the fuller roast levels. Medium to full bodied, lower acidity, clean and chocolaty with some nice fruity overtones. Lighter roasts will have a little citric/floral tone with a sweet and herbal edge, a hint of soft fruit. Medium roasts get much more chocolaty and less herbal providing a balanced cup, works nicely for all taste buds; smooth and rich. A crisp, complex and clean cup of coffee. The cup presents the classic African tones nicely. A bit of lemony floral notes upfront giving the cup a nice sweet crispness at the lighter roast points, a small hint of a fruity overtone. Semi-sweet chocolate with spice notes balance the cup out, a bit on the herbal/tea side super light roasted but will develop into a plethora of tones as one pushes the roast towards medium or borderline dark, very full flavored coffee. Dark roasts themselves get real low acidity and fuller bodied, mainly chocolate like but the spicier accents will linger on the tongue. Rich and chocolaty, Tanz coffee is always high on our go to list for stronger chocolaty darker roast coffee. At the medium roasts one will see a more gentle cup with good body, a little sweeter edge, hints of acidity and stronger chocolaty spice. Darker roasts get much fuller bodied and bring out the very strong bakers chocolate edge balancing nicely with classic African spice note and complimenting roasty/smoky tones. Lighter roasts will show crisp lemony acidity with more of a caramel/chocolate spin but can be pretty sharp.

A nice and clean taste, good from light to dark. Mostly these beans will appeal to medium-dark roast fans but being an exceptionally clean cup, it has some lovely balance and is quite tasty at lighter roasts. Similar to its Indonesian cousins (except washed processed), it gets real hefty into the dark roasts promoting smoky and chocolaty tones with stronger spice notes. Lighter roasting it is more delicate and floral, slightly fruity with some detectable lemony crispness, sweet edged, medium bodied with hints of a chocolaty factor.

A bit lower acidity and best from a medium to dark roast. For an African this cup is more neutral and chocolaty, has a little more character still then classic Central American offerings. Comparatively to a milder Honduran or Mexican the cup has hints of semi-sweet spice notes that create a stronger and more complex cup. Medium to dark leans it on the chocolate like side while roasting in the light-medium shows a bit nuttier of a taste. Medium roasts produce just a hint of acidity mixing with the nutty/chocolate like tones, if lucky one can detect a hint of caramel/floral along side of the more potent chocolaty spice notes. A good daily drinking choice, exotic but not too exotic; medium to full bodied and smooth, lower acidity and darker toned. Darker roasts get a bit more rough and tumble, strong chocolate and spice with hints of smoke in the aftertaste. This cup profile is always one of our favorite darker roast coffees, strong and smooth without risking sour or bitter.

A nice clean, balanced cup, medium bodied and lower acidity for an African. Best from a medium to dark roast. Although lower acidity, lighter roasts will still be a little citric and floral balanced with a rustic bakers chocolaty undertone. Medium roasts mute up the acidity and leave a little hint of a floral, developing a little soft fruit tone mixing with a smoother but still semi-sweet chocolate darker tones. Darker roasts themselves pick up some nice complimentary roasty & smoky tones mixing with a stronger bakers chocolate cup profile.

Medium to dark roast beans & a great daily drinker! This cup is very thick and creamy, filled with semi-sweet chocolate and nutty tones. A very easy to drink coffee. A hint of soft fruit can be seen at the light to medium roasts but pretty faint, not super noticeable until the cup cools. A bit of peppery spice at the darker roasts with some complimenting roasty and smoky tones. Lighter roasts will show some lemony acidity and can accentuate the fruitiness of the cup but often will come off a bit too dry. Yemen Mocca – Pearl of Tehama – Lot 83 Natural
A wonderful old world natural filled with floral, citric, rustic-chocolate, spice and hints of fruitiness. Compared to previous lots, these beans do have a little brightness in them, not high acidity, but not nearly as flat as some we have seen in the past. A rounded cup with medium brightness and body. Yemen coffees are the rare cup where you can occasionally see a “banana” like fruit tone – don’t worry though, its a little bit of a reach for banana, its not like eating a banana or banana flavored coffee, although with developed tongue, most can pick it up at the medium to dark roast level. Citric, floral, red-fruit, chocolate, earth, spice are the dominate tones -citric/floral/fruit will be accentuated with lighter roasts. Chocolate, spice, earth with darker roasts. A lovely super complex old world natural.

Best at the light to medium roast level. Good bit of citrus and red fruit upfront balanced with a thicker chocolate and spice note. Light roasts get a very jazzy stronger citric tone, with just a hint of a dark tone balance. Floral and sweet edged, with an emphasis on the fruitiness of the cup. Medium roasting brings the best of both worlds, some soft fruit, some chocolate and spice: medium to full bodied and far less sharp than the lighter roasts, but also a bit less fruity. More of a chocolaty cup with fruity highlights. Dark roasts get even fuller bodied but burn out some sweetness, taste like semi-sweet chocolate on the roasty/smoky side, thick with a bit of spice in the aftertaste. A hint of fruitiness as the cup cools but hard to tell its natural processed roots at darker roasts.

A wonderful season for the Zambia washed. Good clean cup profile making it pretty tasty from light to dark roasts. We found the lighter side of a medium roast to be our favorite. Fuller bodied cup with a sweet lemony crispness balanced with a chocolaty dark tone, hints of nuttiness and spice in the aftertaste. Similar to a Rwanda/Burundi/Kenya but with a bit more body and less herbal spice. Lighter roasts accentuate the brighter more floral/fruity tones, a bit more showy of a cup with its brighter characteristics but not as chuggable, can pull a little herbal balance. If you cannot tolerate a bit of citric crispness, darker roasts are the way to go, mutes up most of the brighter cup features presenting a real big bodied, smoky, complex and very dark toned cup of coffee.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.79.$7.79Current price is: $7.79.$8.79/lb$7.79/lb
