Crisp, clean and fresh, a great coffee from light to dark. A less acidic Kenya with great balance, mouthfeel and depth of flavors. At light roasts it will still have some brighter citrus qualities but will not pucker ones mouth. Kenyan coffees in general can be pretty strong. It has hints of chocolate, fruit & herbal spice along with the citrus and floral. Medium roasts bring the best balance to the cup accentuating the chocolaty tones and reducing the brighter notes just a hint. Darker roasts make that classic Kenya herbal tone pop right out and is more down the potent bakers chocolate alley. Very clean with increasing body as the roast gets darker. A great balance between citrus, floral, herbal and chocolate. Easy to change the balance of these tones by roast level – a fun coffee to play around with.Price:Price: Original price was: $7.49.$6.25Current price is: $6.25.$7.49/lb$6.25/lb -

A clean, fresh and bright Kenya coffee. Light to dark this will make a tasty cup. Full of citric and floral tones with small hints of a fruitiness, good body with some buzzy acidity that will tingle your tongue. Lighter roasts do have some lemony goodness but it’s crisp and defined, not quite mouth puckering. Hints of black tea spice with a small herbal chocolaty factor are present even at lighter roasting and balance out the cup nicely. Sweet edged with some hints of a fruity factor between the lemony floral front end and chocolaty herbal spice undertones. Medium roasts and smooth and accentuate the chocolaty factor, muting up most of the acidity, a very easy to drink cup. Darker roasts were equally as tasty and drinkable, retains it sweet edge and was not too roasty.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.99.$7.99Current price is: $7.99.$8.99/lb$7.99/lb -

A very clean, exotic and balanced cup of coffee. Kenyan coffees are known for their acidity and spice tones; this cup hit the classic Kenyan cup profile on the head without being overwhelming like some (very balanced in its tones). Not quite sizzling but a very noticeable lemony floral tone upfront at the light to medium roast points balanced with some herbal spice and fading into a nice chocolaty tone that lingers on the tongue. Light roasts will swing the balance towards the floral citric side, darker roasts more towards the jazzy bakers chocolate alley. Holds up into 2nd crack for you dark roast fans. Low acidity and strong bittersweet chocolate tones with the traditional Kenyan spice note that leaves a very smoky tone on the pallet.

Regular Price $7.95/Lb
Always one of our favorite Mexican coffees. Good from light to dark but our favorite was a medium roast. Medium to full bodied, medium to low acidity. Lighter roasting will promote a sweet citric edge balancing with a bit nutty/woody undertones. Has a hint of caramel after a couple days setup but risks keeping a little woody tone if too light. Medium roasts are pretty bullet proof, full bodied with rich chocolaty notes, a little nuttiness and vanilla like spice in the aftertaste. A clean cup with just a hint of citric crispness upfront. Darker roasts pick up a bit of roastiness but it compliments the very chocolaty profile, thick with no real hints of brightness. A good coffee for stronger chocolate tones at darker roasts.Price:Price: Original price was: $7.95.$6.95Current price is: $6.95.$7.95/lb$6.95/lb -

Always one of our favorite Mexican coffees. Good from light to dark. Although Natural processed, this is not a fruit bomb like many other natural processed coffees, has slightly fruity overtones that balance great with some citric, malt and nutty undertones. Its a little fuller bodied cup than most Terruno lots with well above average sweetness. Lighter roasting will have noticeable citric crispness upfront and will accentuate the fruitiness. Medium roasts balance the tones nicely and smooth out (reduce) the citric brightness. Darker roasts turn much more chocolaty and get pretty roasty and smoky, retains a sweet edge and shows hints of fruitiness as the cup cools. A good daily drinker across the roast levels.

A nice tasting coffee from light to dark. We thought it best right around a medium roast for daily drinking but depending on what you like, holds up well lighter or darker. Light roasts one can see the linkage to Kenya; citric and floral upfront, a sweet edge, thicker chocolate/spice undertones, hints of caramel with a little setup in the aftertaste. Not as punchy as most Kenyan offerings, but along the same line of tastes. Medium roasts really mellow the cup. Smooth most would say, a bit more neutral with just a hint of the floral and spice seen at the lighter roasts. Reminded us of a cross between the Mysore Nuggets and a nice Costa Rican coffee. Great for daily drinking. Darker roasts touching or into second crack retain the sweet edge and put a more malty/smoky taste into play with some lingering spice in the aftertaste.Price:Price: Original price was: $8.49.$7.29Current price is: $7.29.$8.49/lb$7.29/lb -

A sweet and fruity cup; best at a light to medium roast. Light roasts are lemony and floral upfront which fade to stronger red fruit and balances with a hint of rustic chocolaty darker tones. Medium roasts clean up the more rustic chocolaty tones which many will like but also reduce the sweetness and fruity factor of the cup, becomes a little fuller bodied with low acidity with good mouthfeel, fruity factor pops out more as the cup cools. Darker roasts get a bit edgy with semi-sweet smoky and roasty notes, finishes with almost a bit of an oaky barrel aged tone.

A very clean and fresh batch from Selva Negra. A little citric & floral acidity upfront, balanced with nice complex nutty & malty undertones. Light roasts are going to be a little front loaded with the brighter characteristics, a higher rated cup meaning one will notice some decent crisp acidity at the light-medium roasts. Will give great depth of flavor but may be a little sharp for some. Our favorite roast and a great everyday drinker was in the medium roast ballpark, builds more of a smooth and creamy cup with a sweet edge, reducing that perceived acidity to just a pinch. Turns much stronger, a robust cup most would say, into the darker roasts but shined nicely; fuller bodied with strong malty and smoky tones, still a sweeter edge to it which darker roast fans will love.

Regular Price $7.49/Lb
Great light to medium roast coffee. Although we have carried the San Felipe lot for years, having the Geisha separate this season has brought a ton of new tastes. East to tell the difference when compared to the other strains Selva Negra grows. Best at the light to medium roast level, these beans have a bit more acidity than anything else from Selva Negra. The cup is very floral and citric especially at lighter roasts. Not quite jasmine floral, a little more traditional citric, but very tasty; delicate and sweet edged. Where one can see the prime Geisha attributes is in the darker tones of the cup, black tea spice jumps right out. Light roasts are heavy on the citric and floral balanced just a touch of tea like spice with herbal overtones. Medium roasts are where most will want to shoot, defined tea like spice with some sweet crisp floral upfront. Darker roasts turn a bit plain, still very drinkable but not much uniqueness.Price:Price: Original price was: $7.49.$6.29Current price is: $6.29.$7.49/lb$6.29/lb -

A nice medium to dark roast more potent Nicaraguan offering. Medium to full bodied with just a little hint of acidity. Strong Medium roasts were our favorite with thicker more complex malty tones, a sweet edge, hints of herbal spice and almost no acidity, a good daily drinker being very smooth. Darker roasts produce a similar cup but turn it semi-sweet with complimenting smoky tones, not quite as smooth but has the heft many darker roast fans will love.

A clean, sweet & smooth cup. Best at the lighter roast points but works nicely in the medium roast range as well. Lighter roasts focus the tastes more around the brighter citric/fruit tones: a hint of lemony citric that fades into a fruitiness, balancing with a darker malt like undertone. A good daily drinking lighter roast coffee. Comparatively to the Catuai, the Typica is mild mannered, delicate, less acidic, smoother, but with similar tastes. Medium roasts bring a more traditional cup with better balance. This should be the minimum roast level if you do not want noticeable floral/fruit notes upfront. Still has a bit of jazz upfront but a more pronounced nutty/malty tone to balance it out. The fruitiness turns a bit more normal for a natural, red-fruit like and sweet.Price: $8.99/lb - 7.79/lbPrice: $8.99 -

We thought it best right around a medium roast; balanced and sweet. Hints of sweet citric floral upfront comingle with smooth defined malt like tones, just the tiniest hint of a fruity factor in the aftertaste. Lighter roasts get much crisper, dominated with more floral citric fruit tones, lemony most would say but does still show a little malty undertone. Darker roasts cut out the more floral aspect of the cup and are very rich and smooth, more semi-sweet but still very malty, into second crack adds some complimenting smoky tones. Hard to find a bad roast point with these beans.

A clean, sweet and smooth cup of coffee one can drink all day long! A little fuller bodied at the light-medium roast level with a great balance between the lighter winy/floral notes & nutty/malty darker tones. Similar to Guatemalan coffee. Some acidity at lighter roasts but just a hint, medium to dark roasts would be marked as low acidity. As one pushes it into the medium roast range, the very sweet nutty tones come off a bit caramel like. Still plenty malty, it will linger on the tongue. Dark roasts turn pretty strong with the sweeter malty cup profile mixing nicely with smoky and roasty notes.

Great from light to dark. Light roasts will show great depth of flavor and produce a very clean cup. Some acidity, which brings lemony and floral tones to the front end of the tastes, balances them with a sweet edged nutty/malty undertone, hints of a vegetal spice. As one pushes the roast a little darker, the body increases, as the acidity and vegetal spice dissipated. Made for a very lovely daily drinker in the medium roast range; sweet, smooth & complex. Pushing the beans darker, the citric and floral acidity drops nicely to a crisp hint or none at all, the malty tones can turn quite robust as you approach or touch 2nd crack. Sweet, smoky, roasty and malty.Price:Price: Original price was: $10.99.$9.99Current price is: $9.99.$10.99/lb$9.99/lb -

A fresh arrival great from a medium to dark roast. A good daily drinker. Medium to low acidity, the cup does have some jazzy more floral tones at the lighter roast points, but too light & it will be on the nutty/grassy side of things. Takes a little fuller roast to see the chocolaty side blossom. Medium roasts and beyond produce a smooth and rich cup, more chocolaty than nutty, pulls a dryer peanut brittle like tone (some may say hint of caramel), more peanut than brittle but we all thought it to be a good descriptor. Dark roasts turns the cup pretty chocolaty, retains the sweet edge and a couple tasters even noticed a little floral hint to it.Price:Price: Original price was: $6.99.$5.99Current price is: $5.99.$6.99/lb$5.99/lb -

A good cup from light to dark, in the medium roast range was our favorite. Light roasts are clean and bright, medium to full bodied, it will have a pretty strong citric tone upfront that balances nicely a little hint of fruit and spice, on the nuttier side with a little herbal note in the aftertaste. Medium roasts similar to most of the Thailand coffees brings out a nice and more potent chocolate note, reducing the citric and accentuating the classic Asian spice. Still noticeable acidity at the medium roasts but its more buzzy than citric, not an overly sour cup but will leave your tongue a bit dry: provides some great depth of flavor. Not a fruity cup, but one might see some hints as the cup cools. Darker roasts get real hefty with a lower perceived acidity, herbal, chocolate, smoky and roasty. Good body and mouthfeel.

Medium roasts are where we thought it shined, just a small hint of citric sweetness upfront with a good balance of spicy chocolate notes, unique spice, more like the Indian coffees. A wonderful very clean example of natural processing, best served in the light to medium roast levels. Medium acidity levels, comes off a bit on the lemon side, medium bodied with a pretty strong red fruit tone upfront, definitely on the sweeter side. Super light, cup picks up a bit of nutty and herbal contrast but this will develop into more spice and chocolate tones just a little after first crack. Thicker and stronger than an Ethiopian Natural, with more of an emphasis on the fruitiness and spice notes. Darker roasts accentuate the spice, pretty similar to the other Asain coffees, would put in on the rustic chocolate side with sweet and fruity overlays and a full body.

A nice and clean taste, good from light to dark. Mostly these beans will appeal to medium-dark roast fans but being an exceptionally clean cup, it has some lovely balance and is quite tasty at lighter roasts. Similar to its Indonesian cousins (except washed processed), it gets real hefty into the dark roasts promoting smoky and chocolaty tones with stronger spice notes. Lighter roasting it is more delicate and floral, slightly fruity with some detectable lemony crispness, sweet edged, medium bodied with hints of a chocolaty factor.
