Colombian Premium Huila Gigante – Miraflores Juanito Family – Washed

This is Sabastian’s (a wonderful Burman Coffee employee) Family coffee, air freighted in small batches to kick off a new relationship.

This coffee stands out for its exceptional quality and cleanliness in every cup. Within its profile, you can discover a range of flavors depending on the roast level. In a light roast, it presents a medium body and reveals an aromatic profile that combines delicate notes of caramel and walnut, intense floral undertones, and vibrant citrus hints of orange. Additionally, its profile is enriched with herbal characteristics and subtle spicy notes, adding complexity and an inviting aroma. Opting for a medium roast enhances its structure while maintaining the purity that defines it. Chocolate notes become more pronounced, complemented by a subtle hint of lemon, while the existing walnut notes remain distinct, even as the coffee cools, ensuring a consistent and balanced experience. This profile also brings out a vibrant acidity that perfectly balances the natural sweetness. For those who prefer a more concentrated flavor profile, a dark roast delivers a robust and bold body, where deep chocolate notes stand out, accompanied by a subtle touch of black tea. It maintains a moderate acidity and exceptional cleanliness, ensuring a refined and full-bodied experience.

Hello, my name is Sebastián and I am part of the Burman Coffee team. As a roaster and in various roles, I have had the privilege of witnessing up close the dream that my family and I have always had: to export our coffee. Thanks to the efforts of every family member, today we bring you this very special coffee, the result of years of tradition, passion, and dedication.

I want to share a bit of the story of my family and our coffee. I was born and raised among the coffee plantations in Acevedo, in the Huila region, my homeland. Here, in this privileged corner of Colombia, coffee cultivation is more than just a job: it is a tradition passed down from generation to generation. From the elders to the little ones, everyone in the family has participated in the arduous process of cultivating, harvesting, and selecting each bean, working with the love and dedication that only years of experience can bring.

My coffee is Castillo Arabica strain and washed processed, a technique that enhances the purity and unique characteristics of each bean. This method, perfected on our farm, allows us to achieve a clean and vibrant cup with fruity notes, balanced acidity, while respecting the biodiversity of our land. We are committed to sustainable and responsible practices, caring for the environment and preserving the quality of our product so that each cup is an unforgettable experience.

What truly makes our coffee special is the fusion of tradition and innovation: a family legacy that has adapted to modern cultivation and processing techniques without losing the essence of who we are. Today, with great emotion and pride, I can say that our coffee has crossed borders and is appreciated in other countries, turning a long-cherished dream into a beautiful reality.

This journey is not only a triumph for our family but also an invitation for the world to discover the authentic flavor of Colombia.Lot Juanito – Washed Castillo from Acevedo, Huila. This new lot is our family’s pride and the continuation of a legacy that began with my grandparents and that my father has cultivated his entire life. We, the new generation, honor that work by bringing their coffee to more countries without losing the essence that defines us: responsible practices, respect for biodiversity, and 100% hand selection; my parents still sort the coffee bean by bean to ensure a clean, sweet, and consistent cup.

What sets it apart from the previous lot (the family blend)? This harvest was marked by heavy rainfall that increased the bean’s hydration and, as a result, the cup feels slightly less intense than before, while preserving the cleanliness, balance, and natural sweetness that define us. It is also extra fresh: harvested about one month ago (late July 2025) and milled (hulled) two weeks ago (early August 2025). The variety is Castillo and the washed process highlights the purity of the profile, delivering a vibrant, very clear expression in the cup.

In the cup, light roasts offer a medium body with notes of caramel and walnut, an intense floral perfume, and orange-like citrus, accompanied by herbal nuances and a subtle spice. Moving to medium roast, the structure grows and chocolate takes the lead with a delicate touch of lemon; the walnut note remains crisp even as the coffee cools, and the lively acidity balances the sweetness. In dark roasts, the coffee develops a robust body with deep chocolate and a hint of black tea, maintaining moderate acidity and exceptional cleanliness. In short: a very balanced and pleasing profile, with just slightly less intensity compared to the previous lot.

To preserve all this freshness, we ship by air. That implies a small price adjustment, though we keep it within market standards because we always look for the most convenient shipping options without compromising quality. This lot is a living expression of our family legacy—from my grandparents and my father, coffee growers who have devoted their lives to coffee, to us, who now help that work cross borders and reach your cup at its best.

Roasting Notes: Each roast level highlights different attributes, allowing coffee enthusiasts to appreciate its evolution in aroma, body, and finish. This coffee is versatile at all roast levels, highlighting different tones while still showcasing its excellent quality. Try a lighter roast for more citric floral acidity, or a darker for nuttiness and big body
