Description
A super fresh and tasty top lot from Colombia. A beautiful screen, although not technically a Supremo, this is a larger bean screen.
Coffee cultivation from small family owned farms is the backbone of production in Colombia. Banexport, a Colombian export company, works directly with many of these producers who have a shared commitment for exquisite coffee processing, and loving care for their farms and the environment. Banexport helps producers gain access to technical support regarding best practices for farm management, processing the harvest, and cupping feedback, which helps producers improve the quality of their coffee. The model of collaborative effort produces traceable community blends with vibrant regional profiles.
Processing Details
This lot comes from 7 producers with small farms in the municipalities of Arboleda and Berruecos within the department of Nariño. Each producer has their own micro-mill where they carefully harvest cherries, macerate the cherries overnight, then depulp, ferment, wash and gently dry the parchment on raised beds.
Exporting Details
While individual producers have designed farm management and post-harvest solutions to fit their needs, the strong alliance with Banexport provides crucial logistical support for things like warehousing and milling coffee for export to the international market, which provides better income for everyone to reinvest in their farms and strengthen their families’ livelihoods.
Tasting Notes: A wonderful very clean and smooth, sweet edged Colombian. Great from light to dark, our favorite was a nice medium roast, pulled the best balance between light and dark tones and was super easy to drink. A very chug-able cup. A little hint of nuttiness showing its Colombian roots, but all in all the cup leans more towards chocolate like, a hint of a soft fruit tone at the light to medium roasts which adds good sweetness without being too acidic. Good body and fairly low acidity. Darker roasts will get more robust and semi-sweet, but if looking for strong and dark, we would look at the other Colombians. A wonderful daily drinking cup!
Roasting Notes: Easy to roast and good from light to dark. Medium chaff, even roasting. We recommend starting in the medium roast ballpark, but take your personal preference into play, if you generally like darker, take it darker, if you generally like light roasts, take it light. Tasted great right out of the roaster, but with some setup you will see more little tones pop out.
