Kenya Premium Nyeri – Ndurutu AA

A good example of classic high end Kenyan coffee. Best in the light to medium roast levels but works at light to dark roasts depending on individual taste preference. Very clean and delicate for a Kenya. Light to medium roasts are sweet upfront with some clear citrus/floral tones. A hint of red fruit balances out with a chocolate like undertone, hint of herbal spice in the aftertaste. Darker roasts are decently less citric and floral, bringing robust bakers chocolate and spice tones to the foreground.

Description

Coming from family owned farms located on the southeastern slopes of the Aberdares mountain ranges in Nyeri County, Kenya. Farmers deliver their harvested cherry to be processed at the Ndurutu Factory (wet mill), which is managed by the Rutuma Farmers Co-operative Society. Cooperative members generally cultivate around 250 coffee trees on half-acre plots intercropped with Bananas, Grevillea, and Macadamia trees.

Tasting Notes: A good example of classic high end Kenyan coffee.

Roasting Notes:  Easy to roast, medium to low chaff. A very fun one to play with – a big Kenya fan is going to want to stick on the lighter side of roasting but rest assured the cup is tasty light to dark. Lighter roasts are sweet and delicate, great depth of flavor. Dark roasts get a little hefty and bittersweet, a punchy and strong dark roast coffee.
