Description
A wonderful Indian, similar to the Mysore Nuggets! A denser bean, 1 size smaller than the Mysore. Beautiful prep and tastes; creamy and bold with wonderful spice notes.
Coming from the Arabidecool Estate located near the Baba Budangiri hills in the Western Ghats mountain range within the state of Karnataka, India. In the Baba Budangiri hills there is a shrine for Baba Budan, the Sufi saint who first cultivated coffee in India with seven raw beans from Mocha that he brought from his pilgrimage to Mecca in the 17th century. The Baba Budangiri hills are also home to the Neelakurinji flower, which only blooms every twelve years. The Arabidecool Estate covers 142 hectares with a distinct micro-climate that is reflected in the cup profile.
Tasting Notes: Pretty similar to the Mysore Nuggets, a little stronger and fuller bodied, not quite as nutty but definitely in the same ballpark. The aroma is nutty, woody, and some slight smokiness. Many of the notes in the aroma come through in the flavor like walnuts and some smoke. There’s dark fruit, oak, licorice, cocoa and malt. The finish has a subdued brightness to it with just hints of lemon zest at lighter roast points. The body is medium to full depending on roast and brew.
Roasting Notes:
We recommend roasting this bean at a medium to dark roast. Too light and the earthy brightness is too dominate, too dark you will lose its depth of flavor.
