A lovely crazy clean Guatemalan coffee. Great from light to dark but keep it on the lighter side to see why its an award winning coffee. Great depth of flavor, well defined and tasty right @ first crack. Hints of more winey fruit with good body and a malty finish. Hints of caramel somewhere between the fruity aspect and the malty undertone with a little setup. The aromatics bring this cup to the next level, floral jasmine like with hints of spice.

Tasting Notes:
A lovely crazy clean Guatemalan coffee. Great from light to dark but keep it on the lighter side to see why its an award winning coffee. Great depth of flavor, well defined and tasty right @ first crack. Hints of more winey fruit with good body and a malty finish. Hints of caramel somewhere between the fruity aspect and the malty undertone with a little setup. The aromatics bring this cup to the next level, floral jasmine like with hints of spice.

Roasting Notes:
We found a quicker roast just through first crack presented the cup very nicely. Give it a little setup to get the more complex character. Roasts a bit two toned but should not create any challenges. Beans darken up quickly so watch for the expansion in size. Surface of the beans will still be a bit splotchy at the light roast levels.

Since then, he was characterized for producing high-quality coffee, nowadays rooted in the heart of the entire Villatoro family.

Before founding his farm and for several years, Mr. Eleodoro Villatoro worked very hard buying coffee and transporting it in pack animals walking distances of around 60km for several days to be able to sell the product. In 1956 he founded Finca “La Esperanza” and at that time there were many obstacles to sell coffee since there were no nearby access roads to the department of Huehuetenango. However, the love for coffee and his desire to prosper continued, and gradually the farm started to transport his coffee in the first trucks existing at the time, from the farm to the dry mill in Palín, Guatemala.

Mr. Villatoro passed away at age 92; but his honesty, dedication and hard work continued to be an example for his children, grandchildren and family. Currently, his son Pedro Villatoro Castillo is the owner of the farm, who since early days has followed closely the cultivation and processing of coffee. With the support of his brothers, he has set clear goals to continue producing high-quality coffee, which they have maintained and will follow to maintain in honor of the example, effort and hard work of Mr. Eleodoro Villatoro.

Was lucky to catch these beans before they sold out. Fruit explosion. What a surprise how good this coffee was. Roasted at City+, which was a little too dark. After about four days rest this coffee really elevated. Incredible value, too. I enjoyed this coffee more than beans that cost two and three times as much. Thank you BCT for making this level of quality and value available.
