Located in Gedeo zone of the Gedeb district, Worka Kubi is one of the finest coffee producing areas within the famous Gedeb Woreda. Known for its dense layered semi-forest vegetation structure with false banana trees providing shade for coffee plantings, Kubi is a great example of an ideal coffee growing envirionment.
In the Ethiopian grading system, grade 2 refers to the cup quality as well as physical quality of a coffee. A grade 2 allows between four and 13 full defects per 300gr green sample. The cup typically has fruity and clean characteristics without any off-flavors. This lot from our friends at SNAP Specialty is suitable to a variety of uses and shines on its own or as an effective blend component.
Tasting Notes: A nice fruit forward and chocolaty cup of coffee. Wonderful aromatics that will follow through into the cup profile. A little lower acidity and fuller bodied than many other Ethiopians, retains a little hint of acidity at the light to medium roast point, nice red fruit tones upfront with a little floral note, not over the top but very noticeable. Turns much more chocolaty as you get close to 2nd crack, a nice fruity jazzy spice note to accompany it.
Roasting Notes: Natural processed with good prep on it, a fairly easy bean to roast. A bit higher chaff and one will notice a little two toned roasting but being tasty from light to dark, should not be a problem getting a tasty cup. Recommend starting at a nice medium roast, if you don’t like acidic and floral, error a little darker, if you love fruity floral, error a little lighter. A little longer setup really smooths out the cup, can be a little more extreme 1-2 days after roasting.
