Very seldom do we see coffees this special but boy, what a price tag to follow. All in all, there are worse ways to spend your money than on a super unique crazy high rated pound of coffee. Here at Burman Coffee, we are always looking for a deal, even on coffees this special. Although is not a competition winning lot, it would still be considered some of the best of the best, an awesome large screen top lot.
Geisha is an Ethiopian strain of coffee, brought to Central America over the last 15-20 years. A unique tasting, very hard to grow strain. Although it adopts some attributes from the country it is grown, a good example will always have overly sweet floral versus a darker tea like spice note, along with more jasmine like aromatics.
Flavor Profile
Lemon • Floral • Chocolate-Caramel
A highly aromatic cup where lemon and lemongrass lead the profile, layered over chocolate and caramel sweetness. Expect a clean, tea-like finish with a delicate rose-like floral impression. The acidity is lively and sparkling (think green grape), balanced by smooth rounded sweetness that can evoke ripe apple, plus a soft tea-spice undertone and occasional subtle nutty/peanut depth in lighter roasts.
Roast Notes
High-Acidity Gesha — Best Light to City+
An even-roasting coffee with medium chaff, but the bean surface can darken quickly—so roast color can be a misleading guide. First crack is typically loud with good expansion; manage development carefully so it doesn’t race past your target. Faster roasts will accentuate brightness; a longer, steadier setup early can refine the cup and improve top-end clarity. For light roast points, wait until first crack has fully subsided before dropping. City+ (borderline medium) is a sweet spot for many drinkers; we don’t recommend a dark roast.
TASTING NOTES — ROAST NOTES
Light Roast (City)
Lemon/Lemongrass — Tea-like finish — Rose/Jasmine florals — Sparkling acidity — Clean & sweet
Medium Roast (City+)
Chocolate/Caramel — Gentle spice — Rounder acidity — More body — Still floral
Dark Roast (Full City)
Not recommended — will mute florals & clarity and sacrifice the Gesha character

THE PRODUCER & THE FARM
Punta Del Cerro — Finca Esperanza
Punta Del Cerro is a very high altitude coffee field owned by the Villatoro family, located on one of their top farms, Finca Esperanza. The family is multi-generational and has earned numerous national and international awards for coffee quality.
Rodin Villatoro (an Agronomical Engineer) represents the third generation, and together with his brother Jenner helps manage the family’s small lots and experimental processing, cupping and learning in the family lab as they plant new varieties and take on more ownership each year.
PROCESSING & QUALITY
Meticulous Prep in a Unique Microclimate
This lot is processed and screened meticulously, focusing on the ripest cherries and top prep. The field’s position on the surrounding mountain slopes creates a special microclimate—warm mornings and gentler afternoon sun—helping produce a distinct, high-quality cup.
Processing Method listed for this lot: Washed The result is a bright, aromatic cup that remains clean at light roasts and develops deeper chocolate/malt tones as you move toward City+.
IMPACT & COMMUNITY
Next-Gen Stewardship
A defining part of this story is the generational handoff: each year the younger Villatoro generation takes on more responsibility—planting new varieties, driving education, exploring experimental processing, and cupping in the family lab—continuing a long record of excellence in Guatemalan coffee.
