The cup is medium bodied, lower acidity and rich. A little hint of acidity upfront which leaves a little hint of caramel/floral at the lighter roast points but can risk a little earthiness. Anything even into the medium roast range is pretty chocolaty and smooth with just a pinch of a spice note. Darker roasts get a bit fuller bodied and roasty with some nice smoky accents.

Kenya Premium Machakos – Kaliluni FCS – Peaberry
This washed Kenyan Peaberry comes from Machakos County (central/eastern Kenya) and is a “fly crop” (secondary harvest) processed at the Kaliluni Factory, the only washing station of the Kaliluni Farmer Cooperative Society, part of the Machakos Cooperative Union. Grown at 1700–1900 meters above sea level (varieties SL-28, SL-34, Ruiru 11, and Batian) by 1,659 smallholder farmers, it offers a sweet and very drinkable cup, with a chocolate and caramel base and an intense, lemon-like citrus acidity; what stands out most is its red fruit character (strawberry-like) with a subtle hint of orange. At a medium roast, it shows its best balance (fruit + sweetness + clean citrus); a lighter roast makes it crisper and brighter, while a darker roast reduces the acidity and brings out deep cocoa notes with a gentle spice.

Nicaraguan Jinotega Olomega Supreme SHG EP Washed
Rich, sweet and malty, a good example of Nicaraguan coffee. Best from a medium to dark roast. Medium bodied cup with lower acidity and a sweet edge. A hint of citrus crispness at the medium roast level. 2nd crack or darker the cup will be bolder with no citric component, adding some complimenting smokiness into the malty dark tones. We did also enjoy this coffee at a light roast; a softer and sweeter cup but will risk a little earthy/nutty/grassy if too light.
