Description

What is a Geisha coffee and why would I want to pay more for it?

Geisha (or Gesha depending on who you ask) is a selectively bred strain of coffee known for its overly floral, clean and sweet cup profile. Often top grades will sell for $90+ per pound roasted. The strain itself is fairly new, low yield plants that are very finicky where they grow. This unique cup profile accompanied with the growing issues (low yield, finicky strain) cause the price to be pretty astronomical. We at Burman Coffee tend to struggle with paying $50 plus for even unique coffee but are quick to grab a good deal that shows Geisha attributes, fun to play with and a great deal for what it is.

This Geisha (Gesha) is sourced from a family owned farms located in the municipality of Gigante and Garzón within the department of Huila, Colombia. An association of 50 farmers who cultivate coffee on farms that average 7-12 acres in size. Producers collaborate with an exporting company called Inconexus to gain access to technical support for best agricultural practices. The partnership has helped to improve quality, increase earnings from coffee sales, and strengthen each families’ livelihood

Tasting Notes: A very lovely cup of coffee for you Natural Processed fans. Geisha coffees are known for their sweet and very floral tones; which are clear in this cup. Roasting Notes: 100% a lighter roast coffee, not a 2nd crack offering by any means (although I am sure someone will like it dark roasted). All the cool tones and reasons why it costs so much are all on the lighter taste spectrum. You don’t have to end it right at first crack, but error lighter than darker.
